sang some American punks and another one pushed Barty all the way. 5-1 down in the second, was gonna make another coffee for an upcoming third set. Was worried. Collins had found her rythm and confidence and was blowing Ash off the court. But Ash fought back. Her overall game covering every question, every problem. Ice cold veins to the end.

Watched on by Aussie royalty, Cathy Freeman, Ian Thorpe, Rod Laver, Russell Crowe, Ned Kelly, Captain Starlight, The Man from Snowy River or so it felt.

But the greatest surprise and thrill to see the original quiet and humble wimbledon champ Evonne Goolagong present the trophy. All day the broadcasters had been saying that she had to watch it from home. The ultimate stitch up. The look on Ash's face.

As for Collins, she nearly stole the postgame show. Very impressive young woman. Articulate and heartfelt. She's never been handed anything in her life from reports. She learnt some hard lessons tonight. She is a powerful player also unafraid to save and volley. I was quite worried, couldn't sit for most of the match. My hamstrings are sore this morning.

It's not clear and obvious to a dullard like me just what exactly is his reasoning over not getting vaccinated? Is it a fear of needles, a religious thing (??), some kind of Serbian political thing, health fears/side effects (??), some whacked-out weird ideological notion about the purity of his body, the potency of his personal immune system being compromised irrevocably by the introduction of a proven vaccine that will protect him and those around him from Covid? Has he/can he coherently articulate precisely what his objections are without recourse to anti-vaxxer nutjobbery?

Stubbornly holds himself very highly. 3 years ago he needed elbow surgery. His then coach Andre Agassi recommended it. Urged it. Novaxx refused and tried rest for 6 months. So his body could heal itself. Maybe with a visit to the Magic Mountains of Healing in Serbia.Didn't work. He lost game after game. Then he had surgery and won majors again. Was said to have cried for days at his initial decision. Agassi probably knows more than most about this cat. Maybe he'll spill after the Norbert's career is over.
