Hello GG! The match didn't start until 10 PM our time so we passed on it last night with the hope that we'll be able to watch it tonight once Betsy gets home. It's on HBO Max here in the US which kinda sucks because it's yet another pay streaming service that we don't have so we're sharing with one of our daughters and I'm not sure if there's a way to replay sporting events on demand. I'm not sure who Swanson is...

We were able to replay the game last night which is great news moving forward for us, and our old ESPN play-by-play crew apparently moved to HBO Max so Julie Foudy is still there which makes us very happy indeed. Of course they were chattering endlessly about Mallory getting married and how hard it would be for them to call her by her new married name but they seemed to do fine and it gave us a chuckle every time they said Swanson. Baseball is a tough sport to marry into because they play so many games (162 at last check plus pre and post season). We wish the very best for them and hope they produce some fine USW/MNT candidates for us in the future.

Our team definitely looked a bit rusty, especially in the first half, but they always do in these early friendlies. Time will tell how they fare against the others in tournament play but my guess is this is going to be the most level Women's World Cup ever played and that means it's going to be super exciting to watch. We wish we could see it in person but alas that's not happening...

Well, of course, it's ridiculous because most of the big clubs don't give a flying f about the women's teams in the Women's Super League in England. Man City is one of the few that has a decent pitch for the women. A few years ago, 2019, I think , my daughter went to an Arsenal-ManCity match that was at some tiny League One size pitch north of London. Rather disgraceful.

I'm not a fan of the women's game in the United States because of how badly the athletes are treated here. I do see about one NWSL game annually, though, and saw Sam err play a few years ago with the Chicago Red Stars.

Used to follow the NWSL when Kerr and other Matildas were playin'. Chicago obviously was my team.
Lots of coach abuse and social justice controversies in the league. I lurk on a Woso chat forum. Hope that doesn't sound too creepy. 😉

Kingsmeadow from certain angles looks like a sweet boutique ground, but has shockin' facilities, change rooms, media section. It's rundown. But seems loved by the team and fans. Chelsea played Arsenal at the Emirates recently in front of 48,000. Either improve Kingsmeadow or build another 20,000 seater nearby.
