JANE MCGRATH DAY.......PINK TEST DAY 3

England showing some backbone with Bairstow and Stokes. Stokes's entire back is tattooed with lions and he's showing all that "pride" energy. 52 not out. Battered and bruised.

            Well that was exciting. đŸ˜³

The old firm of Broad and Anderson saw it out.

Smudge was handed the ball as light was fading. Part time leggie. Nicked Leach off to Warner.

1 wicket to go 3 overs left.

Poms stuck it out. No whitewash.

Now we move down to Hobart Friday.

Don't expect Bairstow or Buttler to play with possible bad hand injuries. Pope may keep.

Some honour at long last retained. No longer a 5 Nil drubbing, if that matters. 4 Nil instead probably

And by way of an oblique tribute to the Tasmanian capital:

Sometimes the lights all shining on me, other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.

                    Winsome ladies!

Spent 7 years in Hobart. Got off on good behaviour.
(joking. I actually escaped hiding in a Taiwanese tanker. Jumped ship as it sailed past Sydney)

Actually went to art school there and taught my first year at Taroona High School. Bit before Princess Mary of Denmark went there. Lovely historic city with snowcapped Mt Wellington sitting behind it, sheltering it from the wild west winds. Wide Derwent River flows majestically out into the Antarctic Ocean.

The art school was an ex stone warehouse for IXL jam that was exported to Blighty for many years. That'll "really boil your strawberries".

So the rest of Hobart is Georgian architecture down by the docks, sweeping suburbia 1/2 way up Mt Wellington.

Bellerive is on other side of river. The Taswegians will be rightly proud today. Sometimes their state gets left off maps. The indignity!

Smith second ball duck. Warner duck. AUS 3 for 12.

                        Robinson doin'the damage.

                        Seaming and Swinging. Slips practice.

Oh let 'em have a bit of fortune. They've got a mendacious PM, the Royals are droppin'like flies, they've cut ties to Europe their biggest market, you can't get sausage in NI and Piers Morgan is soon to be back on their telly....

FIFTH TEST DAY 3 TEA BREAK

Wood has a six-for. Most players look to have fatigue. End can't come soon enough for both sides. Poms in with sniff if Root or Stokes or Crawley or Burns (?) can make a big 100 in final dig.

Gotta say my fave Pommy, Poldark (Rory Burns) has said, f*ck it and has let his locks down. He looks like a keyboard player from some seventies prog band that plays festivals around the Cornwall area. Also weddings.
