Not exactly our pet, but our balcony overlooks nextdoor's yard so we enjoy Mr Quackers (you must be crackers) and all his antics. Now it is raining and he is in the puddles, in duck heaven. Something refreshing and gigglesome about a duck. He interacts with visiting ibis and the occasional crow.

The owner built him a small, wooden house which he never goes in. He scares their little toddler.
I love this more than I can even express. 😍😍😍

Michael Luenig is a famous Aussie cartoonist who often draws ducks and people. Is spot on.
It definitely is. I’m an introvert who has never, ever had the fear of missing out. That cartoon and its verse are wholly me!

Thanks! I probably shouldn't tell her that though; if she hears it too much, she'll get conceited.

*deep breath* Folks, this is my beautiful Brooklyn kitty, who was born in 2006 and who died in my arms on January 3, 2011 of feline cardiomyopathy. I’m sure that some of you from the old Yesfans site remember him. He was an absolute wonder and a joy.

When he was only a year old, he was diagnosed with a heart murmur, and rather than spending tons of money down in Los Angeles to treat him, Matt and I would drive to UC Davis’ teaching veterinary hospital’s Small Animal Clinic’s cardiology division for his workups. This was a quarterly thing, and it was so much less expensive for us—and Brooklyn received top-notch care there.

We knew that the disease would eventually kill him, as at the time there was no chance for feline heart transplantation (I’ve heard that this may be a possibility in the next few years), but we didn’t think it would happen before he was even five years old.

On that awful night, we had just gone to bed, and I heard Brooklyn jump upon the bathroom vanity…and then he screamed in agony and fell to the bathroom floor. I ran to him, picked him up, and cradled him in my arms. He mewed so quietly, burrowed into my arms, and he was gone. I went off my head. Brooklyn was like the child I never had. I can’t discuss the next five days, though some of you might remember what went on.

I’ll never forget his adoption day. Four months old and a skinny half-starved street cat, he strolled out of his holding cage at the animal shelter and leaped right into my arms, purring up a storm. I swear he was saying, “What up, lady?” I had to name him Brooklyn; there was no other name that fit as perfectly, because he had the attitude of my hometown.

We were inseparable. He slept at my head every night, and in the mornings when I kept hitting the snooze button, he provided real impetus for me to get out of bed by yanking a lock of my hair. Naima hated him at first, but then she loved him. When we adopted Lerxstee, Brooklyn showed him the ropes, and L’s hero worship of B was a marvel.

I remember one day during which I’d washed out a small medicine cup (the kind that comes with liquid cold/flu medications), and left it on the counter to dry. Brooklyn somehow knocked it to the floor, and was batting it all around the living room. I thought it was cute, and I had an idea: I put a little piece of dry food into the cup, and he figured out how to get it out of there and eat it. He actually carried the little cup back to me in his mouth. This totally charmed me, so I dropped another little piece of dry food into the cup, and he placed it on the ground, knocked out the crunchie, and ate that one, too. At that moment I was very busy on my laptop and completely absorbed in my work, and it wasn’t until a half hour had passed until I realized what I was doing. I must’ve filled that little cup about 20 times with a crunchie and given it to him. ❤️

Some female member on the old Yesfans site was apparently irritated that I was so upset, and posted something along the lines of “It’s [sic] just a cat.” First of all—HE, not “it”, please; second of all, he was definitely NOT “just a cat”. He was my whole world. He was my best boy. He was unlike any other cat I have ever known, and oh, I still mourn. I still mourn. I will always mourn. 💔
    I loved Brooklyn so much.

He kept me company when I was having terrible insomnia.

He would want to lick your face and you had to know exactly when to pull away before he tried to give you a love-bite!

I'd come home from work and he would see me, immediately roll over on his belly, and wait until I came and gave him tummy rubs.

    He was THE BEST.

I swear, every time I try this, it's different. Second time, it gave me a size option. But not now.

I tried the suggested method, but when I did, it told me I had not provided a URL.

You’re right. I dote on Lerxstee and Basie, and I do all I can to give them the best possible lives. ❤️

I currently have a tabbypoint shorthair that I named Jasmine. Based on how old the shelter thought she was when I got her, she's a little over 7. I can't seem to figure out how to post a picture (it seem to need a URL for a picture online, and I only have pictures locally), so I can't put a picture up, but she's a beautiful kitty with blue eyes and so much personality. During these past two years of working from home, she has been a joy to me, keeping me company and causing me to miss being in an office not a bit.
Now that you know how to post pics, please show her to us! 😻

There's an Upload tab on the insert picture dialog, click Choose File, navigate and select it, then click Upload To Server.
