This is Lerxstee. Yes, I named him for Alex Lifeson of Rush. I mean…just _look_ at him. I added the “ee” at the end because it’s been said that cats respond well to that sound when it is at the end of their names. It works.

He’s going to be 14 years old on the Fourth of July. He is very doglike in his behavior, though he doesn’t destroy stuff in the house. I adore him more than I can say; he’s a lover, not a fighter, and will shove Geoff out of the way when he wants to cuddle with me. Don’t get me wrong; he loves Geoff, but I am Mommy, so I get first dibs on Lerxstee love.

I like that you started this thread cause I look for any excuse to show my cat. also. No surprise she’s my avatar pic. 😊😊. We have no kids, so she’s our baby.

Like yours , she will be 14 on April fools day. Got her from the shelter in 2010, 4/1 was the day she came home with us, after we picked her, and she got her spayed. It was Estimated by them that she was 2 at the time, so we Gave her 4/1/08 as her birthday.

Originally her name was to be Tigre. BUT we soon discovered that she wanted to eat just about anything - mushrooms, olives, peanut butter, spaghetti sauce.....you name it she wanted it (yeah. We have to be careful she didn’t get bad ingredients for cats). So - we changed her name to MUNCHIE. And she knows it!! Lol. Her two favs are peanut butter and liver wurst, red sauce coming close third.

We lover her to death!! 🥰

Here is the second feline resident of the house: Basie. He will be 11 years old on Cinco de Mayo. He’s ridiculously photogenic, and he knows it…quietly.

Basie was rescued from inside the wall of a house somewhere in Van Nuys, along with his mother and his siblings. Something must have happened to him during the time he was taken out of the wall, because he is EXTREMELY hand-shy and hates being picked up or petted, unless he himself wants to be petted, which is about once a month or so. However, he’s very gentle and sweet, and even on his “noli me tangere” days, he’ll come to me when I’m reading or lying in bed, and he’ll “knead” my legs or my back.

He’s half-Siamese, so he talks a lot. He screams for his meals like a horror movie teen girl, but when he’s wandering around the house mumbling to himself, he sounds like Jackie Mason. He loves singing with me, and our best vocal bits are doing XTC’s “Making Plans for Nigel” and Chicago’s “Wishing You Were Here”.

Hard to believe I have had a relationship with your cats, just as long as I have had with both of you. Although I have met both of you, sans cats.

She absolutely saved our lives during that wholly heartbreaking year.

I love that photo of her so much! I remember that she simply lay down on my scrubs, and I just had to grab my phone to take the pic. This was in 2013, when I was volunteering in FixNation’s surgical department.
