  • Wintertimes...

I 've been out for a morning walk in this glorious weather. About 2 hours, listening to Ancient History podcasts.
Gartree Road, Shady Lane, Manor Road, and the fields at the back of Manor Road, off Southmeads Close. Most invigorating.
Cold, dry, clear and bright, temperature was about -1°c. No wind-chill to speak of. Very peaceful.
Sometimes the lights all shining on me, other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.

Very nice pictures.. Walking alot is good for everyone especially as one gets older. Stretching also. And eating healthy. Forget the canned crap and eat fresh.

Nice Ash. Reminds me of winter mornin's goin' to school in Canberra. Crunchy underfoot. You're all expectin' snow over the weekend?

Scotland and Northern England have had snow but I'm not expecting any at my latitude. Even when snow does fall around here, Leicester often misses out due to sitting in a bowl.

It's a strange way of influencing the weather, admittedly, but sitting in a bowl seems to work.

Sun-dappled and frosty Victoria Park at 09.00 today.
Having reached the office, I'm just getting feeling back into my face.... air-temperature is a mere -4 out there, but it feels more like -7 or -8. This cold weather spell is set to break over the weekend, with temperatures up to 10-12 degrees by Monday.

We're getting our first real blast of wintertime here in the Ohio River Valley starting with the a cold front that just came through, and it sounds like this is the first in a series of cold fronts that will last through Christmas and beyond which will take us down to 0 F/-17 C so if there's any precipitation heading our way next week then we will have a snowy Christmas for the first time in a good number of years.

Winter has arrived here! We went from 40.7 F which is about 5 C at 8 PM yesterday evening to -7.2 F or -21 C at 7:30 AM this morning. We also got about 3 in 7.5 cm of snow but it's hard to tell because the wind is blowing it around so much.

We are just outside of Madison Indiana which is halfway between Cincinnati and Louisville. Wind chill right now is -30 F. We haven't seen weather like this since the late 70s but fortunately it's not going to last long. Just took a quick walk outside and the road is a sheet of snow covered ice and it's not going to get above freezing until Tuesday at last check.
