    Jeff Beck, 78

Totally gobsmacked at this sad news. I saw him live in Nottingham in 2018. Magnificent concert. A guitar masterclass.
One of rock's most influential guitarists, he was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice.

Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.

Beck rose to fame with the Yardbirds before fronting the Jeff Beck Group and making forays into the jazz-fusion sound he pioneered

Disappointed I never saw him play live. What a loss. Thoughts going out to his family.

I saw the joint tour Beck did with Brian Wilson a few years ago. He was amazing.

I also saw that show with Brian Wilson. A strange pairing, but a very good event! I think that was actually the last time I saw Jeff Beck perform live. Even into his 70's, Beck was a brave and confident player, getting some unique sounds out of the guitar. When a guy makes a bandmate the likes of Vinnie Colaiuta look visibly enthralled with someone's guitar work during a gig, that's a sign of a top player, irrespective of his age.

What a great player and a big influence on so many great guitarists. Also had some amazing cars!

When I heard the news I had this feeling that with him died the “rock era”. Kind of like everything after this can only really be a footnote. Music will continue obviously and all that, but I think Jeff checking out marks the end of an era, and it’s rather sobering. Jeff is absolutely irreplaceable. A completely unique and fascinating artist.

Yes. One of the best. Saw him once in or around 1974 in a small club venue. What a talent.
