  • Olivia Newton-John, singer, actor

The star found worldwide fame playing girl-next-door Sandy in smash-hit musical Grease.
Sometimes the lights all shining on me, other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.

      2 singin' Angel's in 2 days!

Special woman who beat cancer to set up her cancer foundation which had helped many people. It's a public hospital in the suburbs. You just need a medicare card.

Wasn't unexpected. My favourite memory? Her singin' Magic on centre court at the Australian Open.

      Icon.

Rollin' TV coverage down here this mornin'. Presenters in tears. She was only 73 but had battled breast cancer 30 years ago.

        Dame Olivia Neutron-Bomb.

A masterclass on singin' alone in a middle of a tennis arena with 8,000 people:

          "MAGIC"

esp. at 1.13 secs in. Goosebumps.

A Little More Love and Magic are among the best pop songs I know.

              RIP.

Let's Get Physical is one of the few songs that would make my hips wiggle back in the day....

Here's ELO performing "Xanadu" in 2017, sadly without ONJ, but with Lee Pomeroy (of Yes ft ARW), Iain Hornal (of Yes ft ARW) and Milton McDonald (of ABWH).

The original film Xanadu is great.

Jon Anderson, Olivia Newton-John and a lot of other people:

(includes Jon harmonising with Kate Bush)

Presumably they gave Jon a box to stand on...

I honestly loved her in 1974, got physical in 1981, and oh, those summer nights in 1978. Rest in peace.

This is really sad news, even if it’s not entirely surprising. She was sick for a very long time.

There was a very condescending obituary in the New York Times that was rightfully trashed by readers (me included) in the comments section.

Like just about every man who saw her, I had a huge crush on her. And everybody who worked with her mentioned how gracious and sweet she was. 73 is just too young…

Enjoyed that more than I thought. A kookaburra leads us off. Get them in the garden sometimes.

Donna Summer, Debbie Harry, Belinda Carlyle, Ringo, Fish from Marillion, Kate and our Jon. Not too shabby.

And was that a brief glimpse of a bondegezou?

This is from a TV special she did in 1978. Her Elvis impersonation (starting around 6:17) is really adorable.
