  • Saturnalia ‘22

Supposedly the first Saturnalia festival was held on this date 2,519 years ago! It was a Roman holiday honoring the god Saturn and ran from December 17 to the 23rd. Most historians think that the celebration of Christmas in late December is in recognition that it was already a time of festivities.

wish you each a happy one!

Cool. I celebrate Saturnalia every year then. My birthday was yesterday, the 17th. Enjoyed a sushi bar salmon feast followed by a bacchanalian Heineken!!!

All praise our master and saviour, The Great Saturn!!!

I'm all for the old gods.
Sometimes the lights all shining on me, other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.

You never know if it was your sacrifice that prevented the Sun from not rising today. Better safe…

All over now. The wine goblets have been picked up and cleaned. The carcass of the spitroasted lamb has been picked clean by the ravens. The slave has been allowed 3 days off.

May Saturn bless us this year and bestow prosperity and peace to all 😉

(Have actually seen a goat killed and butchered by my brother-in-law on their sugar cane farm in Fiji. Primal!)
