Who has an original recipe their mother used to make? Impress Dame Mary Berry and you're in like Flynn. Morning TV interviews. Pub trivia answer for decades.

Has anyone had Coronation Chicken? What's it like?

Will her Maj have to chow down for her subjects?

What's the word on the street? What odds are Ladbrokes giving different puddings? Flavours?

Has pudding ever been this damn sexy?

My mum used to make a nice summer desert of pineapple juice, condensed milk, refrigerated on sao biscuit base. Also a custard slice with sao biscuits and vanilla icing.

Winter puddings were rarer. Plum pudding at Xmas. Winter was rice pudding and custard. Maybe the occasional choc sponge and hot choc sauce. Store bought mass produced loganberry pies were popular with cream. Stewed rhubarb. Just remembered bread and butter pudding with raisins. We lived in simpler times then. Nothing was wasted.

Should soon know what we'll be shoving down our throats as the Queen's Jubbly gets underway tomorrow.

Today she held a ceremonial knife above a quivering mess. An execution? A knighthood? No. A Victoria Sponge cake.

Plus the creator of Coronation Chicken, Angela Wood was present to help her Maj quaff some sherry with her cake.

I expect every Englishman to do his duty. Once more unto the breach. Eat the cake or pudding till you puke.
With lashings of ale, a few loud 3 Lions chants and hip, hip hurrahs.

Interest in a dysfunctional family there by chance is baffling to me. Let alone the reverence. In fact it’s what that represents about enshrined privilege that’s anathema.

I don’t hate any of them (although I had a really, really low opinion of Airmiles Andy even before the revelations). But for a couple of years you’d be looking at him as the next king. He apparently likes people to bow and scrape. If you believe in the concept of the monarchy, that’s the perfect illustration of why it’s a fundamentally flawed model.

Most of us on this side of the Atlantic opted out of the Empire before it turned into the Commonwealth, so we can only admire and enjoy from afar. I'm not sure there's anyone who does spectacle as well as the UK, so hopefully at least some of the pageantry is impressive on the telly for those of us not there in the flesh.

That'll be interesting. I think Charles would prefer to have them banished to Antarctica but the Queen is probably going to be too sentimental to exclude them from the festivities.
