I think that novel is my quickest ever read - I scoffed it down within the day, many, many years ago. I can imagine Villeneuve doing it. Teaser of an ending if I recall.

Villeneuve definitely has the visual sensibility for a work of that scale. I love first contact type stories, I can't remember whether I actually read this novel or not. I think I did, back in high school.
