Loads of them still can't be in their houses for christmas. It's not the climate change alone, vineyard cultivation makes rainwater directly flowing into the river from the hills.

Mine is a combination of the John Coltrane album title (“Sun Ship”) and the Moody Blues album (“Long Distance Voyager”). Went with it because of all the Yes associations it brings to mind (“Starship Troopers”, “Long Distance Runaround”, Olias, etc.,)

It means “Empress” in Latin. I used it on the old site, too. Lotsa former Empress Anastasias out there, don’tcha know.

When I was first signing up on this site, I thought I might go with “The Erudite Brooklynite”, but due to some recent cognitive issues and a huge amount of “Man, that’s wholly and stupidly egotistical!”, I kicked that idea to the curb…although I’ll always be quite proud of being a 11207 (East New York) Brooklynite.

Not familiar with your borough, but wife and I love taking the train up to NYC frequently. We Have to get to your area soon, we see many shows and reviews with restaurants we want to try.

Brooklyn - are you maybe a fan of Type-O?? 🤔

Alas, I’m no longer a resident of my hometown! I wish I were. There’s absolutely no way that my husband and I could afford to go back. Just as gentrification hit many parts of Brooklyn (Greenpoint, Williamsburg, etc.), it’s happening in East New York, Brooklyn as well. 🤬

You know, I have never heard Type O Negative’s stuff, although I’ve wanted to; with which releases should I start? Please advise!

The song Love You to Death is awesome/epic. I experienced the boys me thinks at the first Ozfest. I went to a couple, who knows. As far as I was concerned, Type O Negative pretty much stole the show. Sadly the had a way too short set, that they tried to extend, but were shut down to keep things rolling.

Oh, I’m sorry. Didn’t mean to hit a sore spot. And I understand the difficulty/expense of living in the northeast. Love that you call it home. Someday we will leave NJ, but I’ll always call it home.

Type O - good gothic metal, with Peter Steele who never took it all too seriously. Lost him way too soon. I would start with Bloody Kisses and October Rust , With the hits like Black No 1, Christian woman, Love you to death (my fav), covers of Summer breeze and Cinnamon Girl. This was, don’t laugh, a fun band, Steele always poked fun at themselves and industry. Here’s a good quote “don’t mistake lack of talent for genius”.

My friend, don’t worry. This spot has been sore since July, 1983. It couldn’t possibly get any more sore. 😂

Thank you for these suggestions! 😎 I look forward to exploring them. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with fun—I love fun. Come to think of it, I love all genres of music, with two exceptions: country-pop and CCM.

Some Type O Negative as a soundtrack for that freaky old vampire film. Just showed up on my phone.

Yes it is. You nailed it. Love you to death is a sweeping sexy gothic experience !!!

I Saw em at one of the ozzfests also. Camden NJ where I saw all my ozzys 😊. I thought they were a bit out of place in the lineup, timing wise - my memory is fuzzy - but I recall them being on early, mid day, light out still. Maybe I’m wrong.

Liked them better at small places. They were more of an intimate band, theatre venue, old style haunts, that matched their mood and playfulness and interacting with the crowd. Seeing them at the Trocadero, from the balcony, on Halloween- that was awesome!!!!

I have this on VHS. 😂. And I just watched it last summer. I was testing one of our vhs players and used Nosferatu. With the Type O soundtrack. 👍👍👍

I thought the young, underage punk-ass who came to Marilyn Manson, who was with his girlfriend and girlfriend's mom who was too young to be smoking in the first place, in a non-smoking section, who kept causing me to ruin my vibe by having security come over three times for his smoking, was going to be quickly killed by yours truly, er, oops, was out of place. ;-)

Not sure which Ozfest that was. Probably the first. Enjoyed Dimmu Borgeier ( I know wrong spelling ) which I didn't think was possible. I friend from Trinidad sent by a few burned c.d.s later. He got something signed from me from the YES boys later.
Motorhead was on the second stage, which I thought was odd. Right up front in the pit was I. There were ten or a dozen beautiful young ladies right up there with me. I thought it was a bit odd, considering Lemmy and the boys normal fanbase. I spent that set pushing all the young men away who were intent on slamming into them. They were much appreciative, and had a great time.

First Ozfest had a paint booth/ spray paint place for banners and things. It soon became a titties spray paint booth, and certainly there was a better show going on there which somehow looked elevated like a stage as well, then who was ever on the other two stages. Crazy the ount of women and young ladies who got their breasts painted. One woman appeared to have huge, heavy door knockers pierced through her nipples. Later walking to the car, it was a tad uncomfortable to see an underage 16-17 walking around topless, with spray painted tits/breasts.

Seeing Type O Negative on Helloween, must have definitely been a TREAT!

Yeah. They were a regular in our area at Halloween time! Good ole days when we’d walk around the streets of philly hanging out.
