Perpetual Change vs Heart of the Sunrise vs Siberian Khatru

The closers of the three albums that made Yes into legends as early as 1972. A very hard choice!

        Gut feeling decision: Siberian Khatru.

Perpetual Change is very, very close.

Heart Of The Sunrise would be right up there if it weren’t for the endless goings on at 2/3rds of the song. I actually (oh blasphemy!) edited a round or two out of that...

I'm going to go for Perpetual Change, one of my favorite Yes tracks ever. It's probably the wrong answer, HOTS and Siberian K cannot be beat for legendary moments in rock music. But Perpetual change - you know, The Yes Album has songs that sound like they have still have elements of the previous two albums and the previous Yes incarnation. A Venture, even Starship Trooper to some extent doesn't sound too far away from what they were doing so far. But Perpetual Change - that sounded like the future. So that's my personal choice.

I'll vote for Perpetual Change, a song so prescient that it predicted the rotating-door members of Yes.

Siberian Khatru relies too heavily on that one Steve Howe guitar lick in 4/4 - 4/4 - 7/8 - 7/8.

Heart of the Sunrise is pretty nifty with that opening polydirection riff, which they end up developing into many other offshoots.

But Perpetual Change was first, and did all than and more, and better.

3 of my favorite Yes songs right there! I went with HotS for the poll, but could be any of them!

Perpetual Change for me. Musically, and lyrically. No shade directed at HOTS and SK, but life itself is Perpetual Change, and it’s a good feeling to find joy in that fact instead of dreading it. That just encapsulates the feeling of hopefulness and adventure that Yes brings to me, and it is the lens that I try to look at life through. And there you are… I choose Perpetual Change. Haha

I actually think HoTS is the best closer of the three but I love SK as a song forever and always, so that got my vote.

Thank you thank you for this - when I saw the thread I was waiting for your take based on our “fun” in the Fragile thread - and you gave me a great big smile! 😊.

You know I gotta disagree about HOTS. Again. LOL. But at least you made a choice for the poll!!!! I’m still flipping and flopping and floundering on these 3. 😂

                          good stuff CP.

That 1997 Universal-Theatre version is my favourite SK version. But what about Wembley '78? Which brings me to one of the best versions of my favourite song of the three, the '78 version of HotSR!

After a good nights sleep, and tirelessly listening to multiple versions of all, night and day, I have settled on Siberian Khatru. It was a very enjoyable task. 😆😆😆
