    Which Trilogy do you prefer?

As we are celebrating 50 years of CTTE I wanted to pose the following: do you prefer the breakthrough trilogy, TYA, Fragile, CTTE or the prog masterpieces trilogy, CTTE, TFTO, Relayer?

Difficult. CTTE and Relayer are my two favourite Yes albums. But Tales is my 10th favourite, while TYA and Fragile are 3rd abd 4th respectively. So all in all my vote goes to the trilogy of TYA - Fragile- Close to the Edge.

Also tricky: I may like the songs on TYA & Fragile more, but a) they’re overplayed, and b) I like a lot of live versions more. So I definitely listen to Relayer as an album more, but overall, yeah, gotta give the nod to TYA - CTTE as a run. Just growing strength to strength and defining what the band and rock could be.

A tough one, but there is so much music to enjoy in the trilogy which starts with CTTE that it has to be that one for me.

i always think of The Yes Album/Fragile/CTTE as a trilogy, as that's what's usually bundled together as 'Classic Yes' and seems to have the most longevity. 80% of a Yes concert will feature music from these three albums. They are popular with fans of both prog rock and classic rock.

However, I voted for CTTE/Tales/Relayer as I like those personally a little bit more and they're not as overplayed. There's something magical about Revealing, The Remembering and To Be Over. Kinda hard to choose, as The Yes Album is a fave too. The last two songs on TYA are also special to me. My real vote would be The Yes Album/Tales/Relayer.

At first I thought you were referring to the ELP Trilogy.

Then I realized you must have meant which trilogy of Yes songs: CTtE or Relayer.

            Wrong both times.

But I'll go with the more mature LATER trilogy: CTtE, TfTO, & Relayer

No debate at all, CTE, TfTO and Relayer are the three best Yes albums by a mile.

Well, some debate, as the balance is 50/50 now between the two options 😉

Very sound logic - I agree almost entirely.

The 2015 deluxe edition, but I also like the original... Oh!

Um, the first one, The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge. I have more issues with the later albums to simply prefer it.

My instincts said the first option. But I did some mental calculations and decided that the second was 3 plus records of fantastic music while the first is 2 and a half record of fantastic music.

TYA, F, & CTTE are the foundation on which my Yes fandom was built (along with Yessongs). They've always been the "Big 3" for me.

I went with the later trilogy because so much of the earlier has been played to flippin' death in concert, not to mention on the radio.

I think it depends on my mood. Right now, it would be the first option.
