Always loved this song. When I first heard it, it struck me that on almost (almost!) every Yes album, there's at least one song that I think, yes, this is up there with the best they've ever done, this is a rocking good tune! (Don't fight me.) Lightning Strikes just packs so much energy and POP! into a few short minutes, like Changes, Love Will Find a Way, Open Your Eyes, Be the One (yes, I love all these songs), truly Yes being as Yessy as they can, and nailing it.

(The rest of the album is pretty good too!)

The bouncy "Lightning Strikes" is somewhere in between the Macarena and Graceland, but if it keeps somebody from actually combining the Macarena and Graceland, it will have done humanity a service.

I'd go see this band!! January traveling is kind of iffy, tho...
Many fans rolled their eyes about this song, but I love it! It can really get you motivated & energized! ! (needed at work sometimes)
thought I read somewhere that the little ditty at the beginning was from a Spanish cartoon...
I play flute/piccolo for a concert band all summer long, & I warm up my piccolo playing parts from Lightning Strikes. . Fun to play AND fun to hear. Every time I've played this song around kids, they just can't help but dance to it..

Thanks for info. If weather is good I think we will give it a go and go see them. And great insight about you - very nice!!!!!

This is the Yes song I call “peppy”. As written above already lots of energy. Gets you moving!

Saw them here in August. Musically, they are incredible. I wasn't crazy about the set list. Would have liked a more 70s oriented show. I see for the Keswick show they are playing all of Relayer and Close To The Edge. Wish I could be there. For our show they only played And You And I from those albums. Heart Of The Sunrise, Astral Traveler, and a 1975 acoustic Long Distance Runaround were great. The best, for me, was the encore....an a## kicking Yessongs version of Yours Is No Disgrace. I would most definitely go see them again. Here is a video, complete with some visuals, of them doing Gates Of Delirium https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LxW4N73QLs

Shouldn't members of a Yes tribute band called "Lightning Strikes" all be over here swimming in that ocean of words on their new cell phones?

If they have a bad show and it crashes and burns, are they contractually obligated to play this non-Yes tune at the end of their set?

I'm just feeling a little punchy. All in good fun.

No offense to the tribute band intended!

"A lot of the heavier conversations I was having with Chris toward the end were about his desire for this thing to go forward. He kept reiterating that to me. [...] He kept telling me, 'No matter what happens, Yes needs to continue moving forward and make great music. So promise me that that's something you want to do.'. And I have to keep making music. It's just what I do. [...] I'm a fan of the band and I want to see it thrive and that means new music." -Billy Sherwood

One of the reasons I love The Ladder. It starts with Homeworld, a really well written epic, continues with Be a Good Day which is a joy to listen to,.
And then comes Lightning Strikes, a bouncy quasy danceable song in 7/4 which obviously isn't danceable, but it takes a bit to realise it. The Can I with We Have Heaven and Face to Face ends the three part not epic (so there aren't three epics on the album, because of... stuff)
                      Symphony
                      Karmachromatic
                      It's only static
The key defines the scale we climb
To at last perceive we are
                      We are contrast in harmony
