  • The 80’s Rock Tour (John Payne)

Looks like John did a show as ASIA Featuring John Payne at end of last month. Hope he does more. While not a huge fan of this era of the band, I did see them live years ago not expecting much and it was really good.

Payne’s ASIA is playing with Lou Gramm, October 27th, in Cerritos, CA. Lou has a great band with Tony Franklin, the Fretless Monster of Blue Murder and The Firm fame-sorry no Fretless bass from what I have seen. Recent videos sound great, with Lou sounding better in years after his health issues. Great setlist.

Interesting. I would go see this if there is a show in my end of Jersey and not Philly. Will take a look….

Saw Payne twice. The ‘ 92 I believe when Howe guested. And I guess about 10 years later Asia / Uriah Heep show.

I like him. I def don’t favor him over JW. But he’s a fine musician, and I like his vocals. And should be noted - ran into him hanging around both shows, and he was pleasant and friendly with everyone just hanging out….

I like the John Payne-era Asia and saw him last year. He was supposed to have been readying an Asia Featuring John Payne album going under the title of Avia or something bird-like. I'd rather him finish his studio albums but I'd see him again. But c'mon J Payne - gimme some Dukes Of The Orient or something. Well, I can't be too greedy - he did put out a limited edition instrumental rock/prog album under the moniker of John Payne & The Loco Crew. I think we need a full-on John Payne solo album on Insideout. I like most anything Asia.
