  • Jann Wenner Removed From Rock Hall Board After Interview Backlash

Jann Wenner was removed from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's board of directors on Sept. 16, 2023, one day after making controversial comments about female and black musicians.

    What an absolute douchebag!!

So called “elites” really do believe that they breathe different air and that they can operate from a different set of rules. Curious though, we know an “apology” will be forthcoming and given the Fallon thread’s discourse, my bet is that it will be just as protocoled and insincere.

I don’t think that the so-called “woke” elite have anything close to a monopoly on self-importance. It’s just more surprising when it happens.

            Incredible lack of self awareness.

Self appointed arbiter of quality for a private business masquerading as an independent or academic body.

            Pathetic bunch of charlatans.

              Ass-hat/Ass-clown.

Privileged s.o.b for far too long. Perhaps because he isn’t attracted to women and black men, I just don’t know. Time for Weiner to get a reality check. It amazes me, well not really, what happens to folks in somewhat of an elite status with money. I can think of several. But their lives are far different from the average Joe and Jane. He may think about moving permanently to another continent.

I had no idea that he was gay. That’s another strike against him in the eyes of many.

I really don’t think people’s views, esp. after this latest stick both feet in his mouth moment, about him have anything to do with him being gay. He certainly worked hard to get to where he got from humble beginnings .

Of course probably the majority of folks don’t care for him out of jealousy, and others for actions he has taken or not taken, once he got to a certain level. It is gone from my memory banks, but I vaguely recall he did some Dan Snyder house thing. There is a ton of highly successful gay people as you well know, esp in the entertainment business. Other than much of the Middle East and parts of Africa, where there is also a ton of gay people, I don’t believe most people could give a toss, unless you dress like a clown 365 days a year, if you are gay or not

Exactly my thoughts Jay. Jann, Fallon, and Ashton, should start the We're Sorry, Not Sorry podcast.

They believe it because it's absolutely and entirely true. That's why people seem to enjoy it so much when big names fall from grace. It's why people embrace cancel culture. And it's (annoyingly) why being successful is so often viewed with disdain rather than admiration in the current climate.

Mr Wenner created some impressive things in his career. Then he became complacent. Then he overstayed his welcome. And finally, he was the architect of his own undoing by, well, opening his mouth and letting people see what he was really made of. I don't think any forthcoming apology (if he even offers one) is going to undo that - even if he were to manage to pull off some sincerity.

I'm an un-fan of Ted Nugent, but he put in his 2¢ regarding Jann Wenner:

Of course, Ted is convinced that he's been excluded from the RRHoF because of his political views. Maybe. I might also be because in terms of significance, he's on the shrimp end.

                        Here's the headline and article:

TED NUGENT Weighs In On JANN WENNER's Ouster From ROCK HALL Board: 'Adios, Mofo'

Ted Nugent has weighed in on recent controversial comments by Rolling Stone magazine founder Jann Wenner about black and female artists. In an interview with The New York Times interview, Wenner said he had not included any women in his upcoming book featuring interviews with legendary rock figures...

Good riddance. As I wrote in the comments section of the New York Times: Jann Wennner is 77 and has been in a position of influence and power since the late sixties. He's had a long run, but wasn't it time he left his place to someone else? It's like those octogenarians and nonagenarians still in the US Congress, clinging to their power. After a while, it's time to gracefully leave the spotlight to others. (Not to mention the prospect of a rematch for the presidency between the same two old dudes...)

Also, the fact that King Crimson is not in the R&R HOF (and will probably never be), while Journey and Def Leppard are in it, is enough to discredit the whole thing.

Nothing that comes out of Nugent's mouth is worth reading or quoting.

Wenner is out because he showed the world what a moron and a sellout he is.

Nugent is just as much a celebrity and a clown as Wenner. Given that we call someone an “elite” because we think they’re self-important and we disagree with them, he is just as elitist.

The difference may be that Wenner apologized. (Which is in-manly to more than a few.)
