Robert Plant & Alison Krauss interview, LA Times

A very nice and interesting conversation...
Plant and Krauss discuss their first album together in 15 years, their 'happily incompatible' friendship and, of course, the chances of a Led Zeppelin reunion.
Sometimes the lights all shining on me, other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.

I always find it amusing when people who interview Robert Plant bring up a LZ reunion. It's not going to happen folks! And even if it did it would be such a zoo that I wouldn't want to be anywhere near one of their shows, and the tickets would probably be crazy expensive anyway. We saw Robert a couple of times when he was touring with Patty Griffin (Betsy is a big fan of her) and enjoyed the shows very much. Thanks for sharing the article Ash.

I would only want a Zeppelin reunion if a) they really wanted to and were itching all over to do it and do it right, and b) NEW ALBUM. In fact I'd take only a new album and no tour over a big mega arena tour where they puke out the hits and pretend to be 25 years old. Jimmy Page hasn't done anything in over 20 years. Not a solo album or anything, it's like he gave up. Has he written anything in 20 years? I dunno. But I respect Robert Plant for following what he wants to do whether I like it or not. I even like a couple of his solo albums better than some Led Zeppelin albums. I may be the only one in the solar system who's favorite Robert Plant solo album is Shaken 'n' Stirred. I'm glad Plant won't reform Led Zeppelin for the wrong reasons - it's too magical. It could only be done for the right reason or not at all, and fortunately it looks like it will be not at all. Magic remains intact.

A few months ago I watched some more recent live performances from Plant and I think he’s done a good job of accepting the limitations of his singing and playing the old stuff in a different style. I can’t imagine him trying to sing like he used to, and so there is really no use in reuniting.

As for Jimmy Page, I haven’t followed what he’s said in more recent interviews, but I thought he said a few years ago that he was going to put a band together, but it never happened. I feel like if he went on tour it would be a huge deal, but all he’s done the last decade or two is make guest appearances with other bands like the Foo Fighters or Black Crowes.
