  • Favourite Porcupine Tree songs?

This is another one of my favourite bands, I'm a big fan of their Fear of a Blank Planet and Deadwing records.

I love Arriving Somewhere but not Here, The Start of Something Beautiful, Mellotron Scratch, Anaesthetize, Sentimental, My Ashes, and also Sky Moves Sideways from the 90s.

    That’s it…

I love In Absentia, the whole album but especially the two opening tracks: “Blackest Eyes” which segues into “Trains”.

I agree. I also feel the same about Deadwing and Fear of a Blank Planet.

Haven't heard a large majority of their music, but the song that comes to mind is Don't Hate Me from Stupid Dream.

Mine too. I'd say the last time Yes made an album as good as the Tree was `The Ladder`, way back in the 20th century.

My crazy Favorites list – worst to first:
              d. Love, Death & Mussolini
              c. The Nostalgia Factory
              b. Tarquin's Seaweed Farm
              a. Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape
              which all =
15 On the Sunday of Life
              14 Lightbulb Sun
              13 Stupid Dream
              12 Recordings
              11 Voyage 34

Up the Downstair wow, some of those earlier tunes were difficult for me to truly get into.

I like that psychedelic prog style. It is actually heavier and more refined than their early acid popsicle phase. And then Signify has that spooky haunted house jive going on. These are late night headphone albums.

I only have one of their albums, Fear of a Blank Planet. I particularly like the song My Ashes. It sounds like classic prog to me. In any case, they are on my list to get more into.

                      Is there enough time though?

thanks to this place I'm inspired to do a deep dive with Renaissance at the moment. Before that Marillion and then the Canterbury scene. So much stuff. Nectar.

It never ends. XTC. Zappa. Crimson....

I find that Lazarus, especially, can hang around in my head for several days after hearing it. Stars Die completely fills my head up (with nice stuff).

I generally most like the songs with more harmonies, but there are others i enjoy a lot, too. (However, I almost always listen on shuffle, mixed with Steven Wilson solo songs, and sometimes I forget which is which.)
