No he says modulations a lot
he's ok spose. The music? Lots of horns and brass and choir make some stretches sound very Wakemany. Centre of the Earth and this. What was in the water in those days? Some cool guitar and organ. Did not expect this. Can't say I'll return. Makes Yes' evolution seem pretty commercial. These cats were way more experimental initially.

Meant Ash was the thread starter. Fun to discover new worthwhile listening trajectories. Might even listen to Zappa one day.

It seemed to me that he really didn't "get it".

Doug 'Daily Doug' Helvering has found a niche within a niche. His reaction videos feature harmonic breakdowns.
There's a couple of others I listen to, one with a young lady that has a sort of hippy sensibility to her descriptions, and another that's Aussie, and has a grasp on a bit of music theory.
Most of the rest are often insufferable to listen to/watch, as they are all "Acting" how blown away they are by what they're listening to.

I've recently unsubscribed from Doug's YouTube channel; it was getting predictable, and with his increased Patreon activity, with paying customers, his YT activity is fast-becoming very much a marginal thing. I got bored with him championing US prog-metal bands, in which I have no interest at all, rubbish like Dream Theatre, Tool, and anything Neal Morse is attached to.Sometimes the lights all shining on me, other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.

And he listens to "harder" music. Prog Metal, Prog, & Metal.
The other two I mentioned are at 21.4K and 7.18K subscribers. Both are singers. The former is a songwriter.
The latter of the two actually started her own listening project with Beatles albums, but didn't start her reaction videos until she'd gotten halfway through . . . so it wasn't an intended thing, just one that developed. When she got to the end she circled back to the beginning and made re-reaction videos. She's moved on to Pink Floyd, Beach Boys, and now, YES. It's almost amusing how she simply listens, and knows nothing about the band. She thought that Clap was two guitarists . . . which just makes you appreciate Howe that much more.

One reaction channel I've mentioned before that I enjoy is ixi music. She has nearly 30K subscribers. She started out primarily as a NIN reaction/analysis channel but has branched off into related artists and artists of the same era. She's primarily coming from the analytical side (she has a degree in music) and I think it's an interesting perspective - not original, necessarily, but I enjoy her personality and passion. Plus I believe there should be more women in that space.
This is a long one, but she's discussing my favorite NIN album, so I'm all in favor of that.
