    Ukraine Prog

Despite the terrible war in Ukraine various musicians have produced some wonderful music (as well as defending their country) and one such musician is Antony Kalugin, keysman and singer for Karfagen. He has released a new solo album called Rebirth and it is a masterpiece! I thoroughly recommend this album as it has very positive vibes to it as well as some really good melodies to enjoy. There is also some great guitar playing from Karfagen guitarist Max Velychcko.

      Great artwork on the cover.

The first track (the title track) is excellent:

      .

Evidently a 99% instrumental album. Somewhat Mellow Prog.

I sampled the rest of the tracks, and enjoyed all but one, the fruity 3rd track ("Days of Joy"), but it probably works much better as part of the whole, and when listening straight-through.

      Overall I'd rate it 9.25/10

SUNCHILD - one of the projects of keysman/singer/composer - have a new CD out called EXOTIC CREATURES AND A STOLEN DREAM, and it is a truly wonderful album of classy prog-rock! Great guitar playing, slick drumming, and its played with great enthusiasm. Despite the anxieties of war, they somehow sound cheerful and positive. Fantastic start to a New Year!
