In the Court of the Crimson King movie

Sometimes the lights all shining on me, other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.

I did prefer the original title, Cosmic F*Kc, but fair enough, you want this on Disney+ eventually…

I particularly enjoy long-term player Trey Gunn's assessment:

…this film and The Beatles "Get Back" are the two most important insights into musicians actually doing. Nothing else has ever come close.

Every filmmaker who has ever tried to put the musical process on film can now just stop it. You suck and you failed.

Two very, very different films and two very, very different ways of musicking.

With "Get Back" you see intense and present playfulness in action.
With Crimson you get the other thing.
Prog rock pond scum set to bum you out for ever!

Hopefully this eventually comes to the arthouse movie theaters. If they ran The Sparks Brothers film, or the Zappa one I managed to catch, I'm sure they'll show the Crimson one too. I'm sure there will be only two or three other people in the theater again this time too.

I'm saddened to hear of Ian McDonald's death.
I've posted a link to a notice in the In Memoriam thread.

The complicated and fractious history of the prog-rock titans is explored in revealing new documentary In the Court of the Crimson King

It's interesting that Robert took the same tack which Phish did with their film Bittersweet Motel, although theirs didn't do so well from a critical standpoint. But I do think it's an interesting path to go with a filmmaker who has no idea who or what you are, and the making of the film is that journey to discovery. Because I do think you'd want to avoid a hagiography, for the most part.

Right; I’m all over this movie like a bad suit! 😍

I hope it will be livestreamed!
Amen.

“…being in King Crimson was ‘a little bit like having a low-grade infection. You’re not really sick but you don’t feel well, either.’” Still the best quote about KC…

King Crimson's Robert Fripp says a new documentary about the art-rock band is finally coming — a tour by the band, however, is not.

Details on the launch of the movie are finally available! I would love to view the streaming event but we are traveling that weekend so it might not happen, but if not there will be a BluRay down the road.

Today DGM Ltd is delighted to announce the public launch of the highly anticipated documentary ‘In the Court of the Crimson King, King Crimson at 50,’ directed by Toby Amies (The Man Whose Mind Explod...
