Very, very sad news. Wayne Shorter passed away today, age 89. The expression "musical genius" is used a bit too much, but in his case, it's really fitting. Phenomenal musician, as a leader, with Miles Davis, Art Blakey and many others.
Brilliant musician. Saw him once at North Sea Jazz in 1991 I think it was when he toured with a supergroup with Herbie Hancock, Stanley Clarke and Omar Hakim. Magical!
