  • The End of Hollywood?

    Perhaps.

Have you missed Colbert, Fallon, Kimmel, Meyers?
    Due to the writers' strike.

Now the actors are strikin'. A Nanny-led union stoppage. Fran Drescher front and centre.

All about money and fear of AI.

    Oh well. 😙

We'll always have reruns of F Troop and Bewitched!!! 😋

Nope, none of them are funny and they are all handcuffed by corporate media. Sanitized garbage

          Agree!

I will miss the planned 2024 release of Alien: Romulus in the theaters however if there is a delay on that movie. That’s about all I can think of. Lol.

Everyone in Hollywood could be replaced with CGI and AI and there would not be much of a drop off in quality for the most part.
            Not on Yes' payroll.

There are a few who will miss them, but judging by the numbers, most avoid them. Wouldn’t miss them a bit, not now a days anyway.

My one and only concern is that this might screw up Doctor Who somehow. Otherwise I don’t really care.

                  No worries for me.

WORKERS UNITED WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED

Good luck to 'em. Fran? You go girl!!!

Find it funny when some people strike. Not nurses or doctors or ambos. Others who think people will miss what they do. We won't.

Even Colbert. Yeah. Nah. His schtick is repetitive and his response to Jan6 was naive at best. A Christian and Lord of the Rings does not a worldview make. Meyer's reaction was much better and grounded.

So. In the absence of these chucklefests I've discovered some great podcasts on youtube that dissect current affairs and YESmusic

                  • Pod Save the UK with those funky hepcats Nish Kumar and the Guardian's Coco Khan. Go the Desi diaspora.

                  • YesMusicPodcast with author Kevin Mulryne

                  • Yesshift with father and son The Shindlers

                  • SOAL prog with Sean from Progears

                  • The Attackin' Third woso podcast. American but the girls know the world game. Great analysis

Now as for cinema. Well the new Bond isn't even cast.
Russell Crowe has announced his retirement. To focus on buildin' his film studios at Byron Bay along with the Hemsworths.

Plenty of good old films on youtube. Plus I could rewatch Bad Sisters by Sharon Horgan.

                  Life will go on.

Woso World Cup to enthrall for the next 6 weeks

I think Hollywood deserves to burn for what they've done to the Writers' Guild, so I guess we'll see.

Hollywood ended along time ago. So little creativity. If I see another remake of Magnumb PI or The A Team I'm gonna puke. At least there is one more season of Curb coming soon.

In most disputes, I most always side with management. But I don’t have a horse in the race, so doesn’t much matter to me.

i feel sorry for those in the periphery who have jobs that will be hurt.

There’s plenty of stuff from the last 100 years, original ideas and shows, to get by for a long long time.
