Sometimes the lights all shining on me, other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.

I'm a pretty big HAMMER fan, nice pick.....I've only seen the Gorgon once, I remember it being visually really beautiful. I've got almost every Hammer film on my hard drive from "Quatermass Xperiment" through "To the Devil a Daughter" !

The restoration work on them for BluRay release has been done with great care, and the films look gorgeous. I have a lot on BluRay and DVD, as well as the restored and remastered Amicus portmanteau films, and Roger Corman's Poe films. It's always going to be physical media for me as my first choice.

Check out the Hammer Film Podcasts, if you're a fan. There's a couple of them, that are pretty good. I need to get back to watching them, I was at one time trying to watch all of them in order of release......pretty amazing how many films that little studio churned out !

                  • I've not watched an episode for quite a while. Good thing I left a post-it note in the DVD box so I knew where I'd got to. Only two more episodes of season 1 after this.

Nice pick, I'm a long-time fan of all-things-Apes. Including the Cult classic TV series from 1974 (I draw the line with the pathetic animated "Return to Planet of the Apes" however ! ). "Beneath TPOTApes", I still say is the best sequel of the original franchise. Gotta love those Mutants with that creepy pipe organ !

Ash BTW, I've returned to my Hammer Films Odyssey, started "The Quatermass Xperiment" last night (going back to the beginning !)

First of the Apes films I saw was the last one, Battle, in 73. A Saturday matinee at my local cinema. Then Escape and Planet were re-released as a double bill in the early 70s and I saw them, several times if memory serves. I think I saw Beneath and Conquest on TV somewhat later that decade. I've got them all in my collection. I must get the TV series as well. I've just watched the three latest ones again this last week.

The '74 TV series barely survived one season (only 13 episodes if memory serves), Old Faithful Roddy McDowell was there, and two clones of Starsky and Hutch (perhaps their intention to boost ratings LOL).....enter at your own risk !

                            • Catching up On AHSOKA.......Tonight Episode 6 drops, and overall this is so far my least favorite of all the Star Wars TV Series. My ranking of all the shows so far :

                              1. The Mandalorian (all 3 seasons)

                              2. Obi-Wan KENOBI (artistically/technically ANDOR is probably the better show, but my bias/love for Kenobi/Vader lore forces me to give it #2)

                              3. ANDOR

                              4. The Book Of Boba-Fett

5.. AHSOKA (still a chance to redeem itself with 3-4 episodes left, but as of now, I'm putting it in last place)

Battle was the first one I remember seeing also(!) - clearly recall my dad taking me to the theatre (8yrs old). If he took me to others, I can’t remember. He was big on taking me to monster/horror/sci fi/disaster flicks in the early 70’s (we never missed the sat morning, or was it Sunday, monster flicks on the ole UHF channels 😆 - I think “Dr Shock programming show” in our area? Anyway, thanks for mentioning Battle, brings back good memories!!
