  • Westworld (TV Show)

I posted this on the other forum, but i'll put a thread here too since that's now gone.

Has anyone seen this show, if so what are your thoughts? I love the first two seasons, its brilliantly written and acted.

For the uninitiated, it is a show about a park in a western setting of robots "hosts" who are the play things of human visitors "guests". It deals with subjects of human consciousness and what it means to be human, as well as the growth of AI and even the notion of mortality. Very "Minus the Man" If you haven't already seen it, I highly recommend it, it has some incredible moments and the atmosphere is sensational throughout.

I love the concept, enjoyed the fist season, but lost track soon after, should I revisit the show?

I sort of believe that even complex android robots can get a soul and overcome their programming, like Data from Star Trek TNG

A similar issue now with ST: Picard

the second season is well worth it, its complicated but very enjoyable, I recommend getting up to speed with the events of the first season as well if you have forgotten.

I've seen the first season (which my former place of employment had among its DVD collection), and I enjoyed it, especially as it had Sidse Babitt Knudsen in it from the brilliant Danish political drama Borgen.

I know the film version, with Yul Brynner Richard Benjamin & James Brolin, very well, written and directed by Michael 'Jurassic Park' Crichton (1973).

Is the series still in production? How many seasons are there?
Sometimes the lights all shining on me, other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.

I enjoyed Westworld, first season. Found it intriguing how the "man made robots" in the park were becoming more sentient as the game went on. For me the show kind of opened up the question of what 'being human' really is or what we want it to be more to the point. Maybe I will revisit and watch the second season.
