I wonder what The Ancients would sound like with modern day Yes. It probably won’t match up to the original, but hey, a man can dream.

Originally posted by Mr. Holland View PostWell, it's the Relayer tour and the advertisement clearly says "all of Relayer", so they're not going to drop Gates.
Furthermore the adds says "and classic songs". Which basically means "more well known songs". So all in all I don't see The Remembering added to the setlist for this tour. Perhaps a following tour, but realistically not on the Relayer tour.
If anything, I would think that 2023 would be a good opportunity to reintroduce "Owner of a Lonely Heart" and some of the other hit songs from that era and other eras (and even some lesser known ones meeting similar criteria as the hits) that connect with the rock/pop crowd either because they know them and love them, or because they are the sort of music that immediately grabs them on a more visceral level, to balance out the setlist.
Maybe "The Remembering" or "The Ancient" could be used as a lengthy prog epic to sort of provide an anchor for the portion of the Yes fan base that really appreciates those on future tours where there isn't anything like that baked into the tour's concept. I have to say, though, I was listening to about 12 minutes of "The Remembering" as I was typing this reply, and it really does seem kind of slow to be devoting 20 minutes plus of each live concert on a tour or on several tours to."A lot of the heavier conversations I was having with Chris toward the end were about his desire for this thing to go forward. He kept reiterating that to me. [...] He kept telling me, 'No matter what happens, Yes needs to continue moving forward and make great music. So promise me that that's something you want to do.'. And I have to keep making music. It's just what I do. [...] I'm a fan of the band and I want to see it thrive and that means new music." -Billy Sherwood

If they don't play all of Relayer despite promising it (again!) there'll be shit to pay...

I agree. I actually think adding "The Remembering" to a tour where all of Relayer is already being played would be a mistake regardless of how they were advertising the rest of the set. There's got to be some sort of balance between the accessible stuff and the less accessible stuff. Really, nothing on Relayer is particularly accessible (Maybe "To Be Over", but it's kind of a quiet song). If anything is going to turn out the obscure diehard prog fans, it's Relayer in full. You've got them. Now, you've got to use the rest of that concert to keep the more mainstream classic rock listeners who show up at Yes concerts who are not there for Relayer happy as well.

Without White, without any of the YesWest band members, it might be odd to play their music. They do play material from Time and a Word, but Howe did tour that album when he first joined. I'd be happy to hear them play any YesWest song (well, maybe not "I am Waiting" or "Where will You be?"!), but it seems unlikely.
