Hey thats great to hear! Im not the biggest fan Arc of Life but they are very close to a version of Yes lineup wise, so always interesting to hear what they come up with. Always like Billy's productivity! Hoping this album will be more consistent. The Definitive YES Albums

Happy to hear about that. I always like to hear Billy Sherwood albums and projects. I liked Arc Of Life well enough, and hope the next one is more balanced as a band with more Jon Davison vocals and I hope they up the keyboards. That would make a good summer album, though it probably won't be ready for then if they're still working on it.Comment

It sure was patchy but in the end I really really liked 2/5ths of it. I'm confident they will improve on the follow-up !Comment

At least 3 songs off of it would have greatly improved THE QUEST ( In fact I have made my own custom THE QUEST including them and Steve's songs from LOVE IS...)Comment

I think my problem with Arc Of Life, though I like the album/band well enough to enjoy it for what it is, is the vocals - It's too Billy-heavy. I like Billy's vocals with Circa, solo, Conspiracy etc. but this is supposed to be a band and would have preferred Jon Davison doing all the main lead vocals with some Billy Sherwood chiming in with occasional lead and backing vox. It's supposed to be a band, and if you have a lead singer that only does half the vocals and isn't a main instrumentalist, his position in the group isn't as defined.
I don't mind more accessible elements or that it's same-y or not 'prog' enough or whatever. I enjoy it enough. Glad they're making a second one, maybe it'll have more balance. Billy averages two/three studio albums per band (Circa excepted - they have 5), so Arc Of Life are half way through their career.

I liked the energy and attitude of the first album. The songs themselves I found lacking interesting hooks and originality. So, with a little more sense of adventure and quirkiness, they could be on to something.👍 1Comment

My gut feeling is, that Billy's vocals are more prominent, because if it would be all Davison lead and Billy harmonising/backing vocals it would vocally be too similar to Yes. To me it feels like they're doing this to be more distinct from Yes, but of course that's just my feeling.
Hopefully, they can make more use of Dave Kerzner's singing (and songwriting and production abilities) on a second album. For me, the first album was very disappointing. The various Kerzner-led projects that Davison or Sherwood have guested on have been much better.Comment

I think they said this in one interview, yes.

I remain baffled who they wrote the album for. Who wanted an '80s-style middle of the road song like "You Make It Real"? Did someone actually believe this could be some sort of hit?👍 2Comment

What I seem to remember from the one time I listened to it, is that it had more substance to it than the average hit song of today. The middle of the road has become the narrowest of stripes, you see.Comment
