  • I still haven't listened to THE QUEST or FROM A PAGE

It's true, yes I own a physical copy of THE QUEST, have had it for almost 2 months now, but have not listened to a single track yet ! Partly,I have been hoping to finally get a copy of the ever-elusive FROM A PAGE set, without paying over $50 for it, but to no avail (as of tonight, the cheapest copy of FROM A PAGE that is available is $54.61 + $21 shipping).

Part of me thinks that this The END of Yes as we know it.....the longer covid goes on without any touring possible, the more likely that Mr. Howe might be finally ready to throw in the towel, end retire from the whole game FOREVER......in which case, I may as well delay my Gratification a little longer, because The Quest may finally be the end of "the quest" (at least for the current "YES" as we know it).

Thoughts, anyone.....feel free to speak your mind on this (possibly) depressing topic !

Yeah, I have been resisting the urge to suck up the new stuff for that reason as well, however I couldn’t hold out on The Quest and From A Page. The strategy makes sense.

Hmmm. I think I understand - Yes albums don't come out like clockwork anymore and so you might feel that once you digest the latest album, then the dream is over and the magic is gone, because you never know if this is truly the final album. So maybe you're trying to postpone the experience so that when you do hear it, it's special. You could wait for the perfect day to listen to The Quest, and hopefully you obtain a cheaper copy of From A Page at some point too. I suppose you could wait till you simply MUST hear it, the moment will choose you.

What you get out of The Quest or From A Page varies from individual to individual. Are you ok with the current version of Yes? Or Yes without Jon Anderson? I understand that many Yes fans like specific albums, eras and lineups but discredit others, other fans may treat Yes like a 'brand' and are a little less line-up specific. If it says 'Yes' on the cover, that's ok for them. I'm more in the latter bracket myself, so my enjoyment of it may be more heightened than someone who may only like Yes from 1971-1977 or only like some of the characters from the Yes story. If you accept this current Yes, you may be in for a treat when you do hear it. Nice sounds. But the killer is when one places expectations on any new album. Best to let it be what it is, and focus on the elements that appeal to the individual listener. I guess it's fine to wait to hear it, so that when you do it's crystalized and you get the most mileage out of it if it does turn out that it's the last album. Hopefully covid isn't accelerating the end of Yes. I would like to see this forever-postponed Relayer tour. And I always, always look forward to new Yes songs and albums.

You can buy the four From A Page EP tracks for less than $6 in CD quality on Qobuz or you can get the whole thing with Lyon for $16.49. It’s definitely worth hearing, a better listen than The Quest IMHO.

I don't think you'e missing anything special, none of it is close to classic Yes, so go on and play it.

Why not listen to it? Give it at least a chance. I’m wondering what you did with Heaven & Earth...

Yeah. Play it. Don't know whether you possess a convertible or cabriolet, but if you do. Put the top down. Head out on the highway. Keep that motor runnin' and crank up that bad boy. From fanfare to forevermore. You won't regret it. 😎

They're well worth enjoying in my opinion, take them for what they are, no comparisons to the past necessary- very enjoyable music!

I think the From a Page tracks are outstanding. I wish they performed something from it on the next tour.

Not going to happen, not with Downes at the keys now.

They're working on a new album, so I wouldn't be so pessimistic.

I actually really like Heaven & Earth (have actually been listening to it this week). But yeah, I did a similar thing with that album, and waited until the impending 2014 tour before I listened to it. So my first time hearing "Believe Again" was actually live, on the "2-album Tour" (where they played both FRAGILE and CTTE...unfortunately didn't get "The Game" at the show I was at).

Pragmatism, not pessimism. Another album of velvety-smooth, soft-rock, mid-tempo lounge-music forthcoming? Oh, joy unconfined.... Just what my ears crave.
