To my knowledge, Wakeman's only link with Wetton is the suggested supergroup which never materialised - Wetton Bruford Wakeman which appears to have morphed into UK...Comment

So the Alan White tribute was so great to see and I really want to see this one. The tickets aren't a lot but I don't have a lot. Fingers crossed I get lucky.Comment

I wonder if some of these guests will be vid messages of support as it’s a small venue.
Edit: I see that everybody will be backed by ‘School of Rock’ so maybe that’s the answer and they are all playing live.Last edited by Gary Betts; 06-23-2023, 11:52 AM.👍 1Comment

Other guests included Steve Hackett, David Cross, Chris Braide...
What's the sort of expiration date on doing stuff like this? Should there be like an annual John Lennon memorial concert event?
I remember Asia playing a couple of special one-off tribute concerts for John closer to his death. So, it's not as though nothing was done at the time.
I'm not meaning to be critical. I love John Wetton's work with Asia, Wetton-Downes, Prog Collective, and on some of his own solo albums."A lot of the heavier conversations I was having with Chris toward the end were about his desire for this thing to go forward. He kept reiterating that to me. [...] He kept telling me, 'No matter what happens, Yes needs to continue moving forward and make great music. So promise me that that's something you want to do.'. And I have to keep making music. It's just what I do. [...] I'm a fan of the band and I want to see it thrive and that means new music." -Billy Sherwood👍 1Comment

Maybe they were friends or Rick Wakeman was a fan of John Wetton's music.
Wetton and Wakeman were both on Prog Collective (the first self-titled album) and Prog Collective's Epilogue album (Which was actually was only their second of four or five albums to date). However, they were on separate tracks, and are extremely unlikely to have met through that given the way songs for those albums are generally recorded (Even people on the same tracks as each other usually don't meet. Everyone at least has email contact with Billy Sherwood, though.).
