  • Favorite Yes Studio Album with an Orchestra

The last choice is kind of a joke and I wouldn't expect any votes for it anyways. I am sure Symphonic Live from the 2001 tour would probably win the polling, but we are going for studio albums only,

    Magnification.

I’m not sure why Tormato isn’t on the list, both The Quest and Mirror To The Sky don’t seem to have that much orchestration on them either…

Tormato really only has one song with orchestra (Onward). Quest and MTTS have a little bit more, just sprinkled over the albums and also have short unaccompanied orchestral sections as well.

I voted Magnification too, as it has the most orchestration and the most effective orchestration of these albums. Some of Mag. is a symphony for the ears.

Correct about Tormato. It was just one song.

I like the orchestration on Magnification, but prefer MttS.

Surprisingly hard question to answer. I'll turn later with nothing particularly important.

              Yeah, Magnification.

The Orchestra was PART of the music, not an add-on, or an adaptation of a previous arrangement.

This^^. Plus most of tue songs are just better than on the other albums.

                  My sentiments exactly, Mr. Holland.

                    MttS for me.
The middle songs I like the least on Mag are those that lack something for me more than the middle songs on Keys 2. Those were too meandering and a bit too long, but at least had Wakeman on them.

That is correct, but for me the string arrangement on Madrigal does stand out.

It’s Magnification for me but these guys shouldn’t be using orchestras to augment their music. It reinforces that easy listening vibe and takes the edge off their music, to my ears anyway.

Magnification from that list but Wakeman's orchestral studio albums are far better.

I don't think adding the orchestra does anything for my listening enjoyment. I chose Magnification just because it is the best of a weak bunch. I think it would have benefitted from a real keyboard player.
