  • Official releases not on streaming

It seems like there can never be a complete catalog of officially released Yes on streaming services. When something comes back it’s never long before something else goes away. Currently missing:

Classic Yes: It’s on there, but the live “I’ve Seen All Good People” has been swapped out for the studio version. ( Rights issues with the BBC recording?) “Roundabout” is still the live track.
An Evening Of Yes Music Plus: It’s in the official YesWorld discography so I mention it here.
ABWH Live at the NEC: Has never actually been on streaming as far as I know.
Union Live: I know the short edit version of the Mountain View show was on streaming at one point.
Keys To Ascension 1 & 2: This seems to have gone away fairly recently and is the most significant missing entry right now.
Glastonbury 2003: Included in YesSpeak Director’s Cut and spun off as a separate physical and streaming release.
In A Word: There are several exclusives to this box.
In The Present-Live From Lyon: Missing as a stand-alone title, but included as part of From A Page.
Fly From Here: Return Trip is the only available version.
Heaven & Earth: Not a great one, but Chris Squire’s last Yes album.
Like It Is: Both of these live albums are MIA. I don’t think they are great, and I still dislike the concept of playing full albums in order, but as official documents of the last couple of tours to feature Chris Squire they are nice to have.

That’s everything I can find. Add more if I’ve missed something.

Also worth mentioning is the ABWH studio album where the original album is there, but sans the b-side and single version bonus tracks like “Vultures” and “I’m Alive” that are on the rereleased versions. The YesYears box also has a few exclusive tracks that didn’t show up on any of the Rhino releases: “Vevey Part 1”, “I’m Down”, “Run With The Fox”, live tracks from YesWest and “Love Conquers All”.

For me on Spotify it's Union, Keys I & II, Keystudio, FFH the original and Heaven & Earth that's missing from the studio albums.
I don't know the live albums well, but Like It Is is missing too,

The same on Apple Music too.
      Symphony
      Karmachromatic
      It's only static
The key defines the scale we climb
To at last perceive we are
      We are contrast in harmony

Interesting about Union not being there at all. The weird thing about Union on streaming in the US is that “Take The Water To The Mountain” is tagged with “(Edit)” which I think is the only official confirmation of the existence of the long version from the Arista promo cassette.

Run With The Fox is now finally available alongside the Fish Out of Water remasters. But I didn't even know that Vultures and I'm Alive were relased with ABWH. They're not on any of my copies!

The Like It Is albums and Heaven and Earth used to all be there but they were taken down a year or two ago. It's bizarre to me why the albums would go up and down on the service.

Probably the rights to all of the Frontiers releases reverted to the band. We’ve gotten Fly From Here- Return Trip and Lyon reissued with From A Page, but they haven’t done anything with the other three releases yet.

I also have “Run With The Fox” as a bonus on Chris Squire’s Swiss Choir, but it has some additional orchestra overdubs.

But life is much better when you have your personal Yes library uploaded to stream…

This is what the public was led to believe they wanted: Music subscription services.

Lots and lots of music, but we're all finding that there are gaps in their catalogs.

There is an awful lot of music that is NOT available to you unless you own a hard copy of it.

I recently had to rip my CD versions of both Like It Is releases to add them to my Apple Music library. I still have FFH original and H&E because I bought them through iTunes when they originally came out.

They really should make FFH available. Return Trip should have been a 2 CD set with the original album plus the Japanese bonus track version of Hour of Need.

Streaming rights are weird. I also imported my CD version of Steve Howe’s anthology vol 2 release because a bunch of songs weren’t available via streaming.

I do Google Play music combined with YouTube Premium and I also use a service called iBroadcast which lets you upload and stream your personal collection without that annoying “matching” feature that only screws up a carefully curated and ripped music collection with wrong versions, wrong masterings etc.. That’s why I’ve never done iTunes Match or Apple Music even though I’m pretty deep into the Apple ecosystem otherwise. I fear the havoc it would wreak on my library.

I have three tiers of music these days: 1. Stuff I only care enough about to stream. 2. Stuff I care enough about to buy digitally on Qobuz. 3. Stuff where I darned well still want the physical product.

That third group gets smaller and smaller while the second group gets bigger and bigger.

That’s a good call. iTunes/Apple Music on computers is terrible. I always have trouble getting things to sync up properly, but that’s originally how I had Talk and Open Your Eyes on my iPhone before it was available to stream. I had to buy the CDs and then sync it.

There's at least 6 different labels/rights-owners there. That they all say "Yes" (or "ABWH") on the cover is neither here nor there. In other words, there's no reason to expect that there should be a complete catalogue of officially released Yes on streaming services.

Yeah, we can’t even have a complete Beatles catalog on streaming. How are you gonna get a complete Yes catalog on there? But my goal was to compile as complete a list as I could of what is currently missing.

I just noticed Prince's Black Album isn't there. A Peter Criss album (Out of Control, 1980) that I check for every so often isn't there. Thanks for the good thread idea, it's a frustrating situation.

                              What Beatles is missing?

I wonder if the Keys to Ascensions' absence is the same reason we have no vinyl on that (those) .... I mean, if they don't give us the keys, I don't know how we're supposed to get ready.

I can't imagine the scenario wherein the rights holder benefits by keeping it off streaming sites. I don't expect they're moving much physical product instead.
