Not having heard the whole album yet, I think I'm likely to agree with this assessment nonetheless:

Throughout the album the personnel are working well together as a whole and ably demonstrating their compatibility. This incarnation of the band is indeed progressing – they’re not quite daring yet but they are experimenting and getting more adventurous which is most welcome.

So the hints of another album still in the works is promising indeed. Now if only they'd play a little more of it live! (I realize I harp on this a lot, all while, safe in my Canadian sanctuary, am unlikely to have to put my money where my mouth is and cough up for a ticket, but I remain convinced they'll discover more as a band by playing newer material than old.) While maybe not realistic, an aspirational goal could be to present a three album series live, of new albums — and what is Yes if not aspirational?

There is, unfortunately, no way to play "Heart of the Sunrise", say, without being compared to the Fragile version, the Yessongs version, and any other version in the last 50 years. Either the notes played or the musicians themselves. But no one else has played "Cut from the Stars", so they can't be compared to anyone, which is a great way to be freed from any baggage.

I cant figure out All Connected, there's some irony in the songs title.

Here Yes sounds rejuvenated, like they might be willing to go out and play these songs, and not the old ones at all, like they might have resummoned both the eagerness and the defiance necessary to alienate a sympathetic audience and then win it back again.

what have been your impressions of Arc of Life thus far? Personally I find a lot to love on Dont Look Down, not so much the debut album.

I wore the first Arc of Life out honestly. I listened to it so much and I loved it. I listened to Don't Look Down less, but I like it just as much I think. It kind of opened my eyes up to the way the first one was produced/mixed though. I need to have some more time with both because I'm starting to feel like I could possibly rethink my whole opinion.
