Best from your Worst

I agree. Above I listed Tormato, Big Generator, Open Your Eyes, and H&E as my least favorite works, but they were by no means “bad” or “worst”. They just didn’t click with me like previous efforts, and some of that may have been related to what was going on in my life at the time. Tormato was a big disappointment to me following the run of albums from The Yes Album through Going for the One. That run was a pretty hard act to follow. Big Generator was, to my ears, a disappointing and too long awaited follow up to 90125. I think Open Your Eyes and H&E were not finished products, and were rushed for release too quickly by the record companies. I also think there was a certain amount of guys not being on the same page for the above mentioned albums. Nonetheless, there are enjoyable parts in all of them. Interesting thread.

My least favorites are Union, Keys 1 & 2, and The Ladder, but it's easy to make an album of stuff I'd like:

I agree with the no Worst album. I listen to some albums less than others but each has a place for how I am feeling. I do have a favorite, but it isn't the one I listen to most. I don't think I can honestly finish this assignment Mr. Soundchaser09. I don't know how to start a thread, but maybe someone can start a few. I remember a Beatles post breakup album called Love Songs. I would like to see fans make a "Love songs" album, Maybe a "Hard Rockers" album. Or a soft rock "Mello Melodies" album. Then I might try that out too. I could learn a thing or two. BTW, Mr. Holland where do I get "Order of the Universe (long Edit)"? I love that song.

It was released as a single at the time. It's been included on at least one re-issue of ABWH. You're not missing much. It's long compared to the short single edit, but it's still shorter than the album version. The long edit is 5:59, the short edit 4:40 and the album version 9:02. I find on the album version that the intro is too long and that it gets boring/repetitive. The intro is exactly what they shortened for "the long edit", so I actually prefer that version over the album version.

The last one is the hidden ambient track from OYE. I know people love to hate it, but I like ambient music and the a capella snippet of New State If Mind would make a much better start to the album IMO than Billy's corny whammy bar guitar goofing.

I've always liked I'm Alive, both versions, and always skip the rest of Quartet. But there's something about the final piano and keyboard ascending scale with Steve's acoustic at the end of the album song that I really, really like.

1. Union and ABWH are two of my favorite Yes albums
2. Sometimes ranking infers that the subjective qualities of a group's albums infers that there is one that is the "worst", when it is merely the "least liked" or "least played".
