Does Yes ever receive fan feedback?

Now that we have something concrete to look forward to with the upcoming release of the new album, lots of people here are sharing their thoughts on where the the previous few albums could have been better and in what ways we hope that the new album improves on them. And it is not just in the last couple of days; there have been strong opinions on Yesfans and other fan sites since time immemorial.

Some of this feedback is constructive, and some isn't. But I am just wondering, does the band ever receive this feedback? There was LOTS of feedback after Heaven & Earth came out, and although The Quest was a slightly better album, I would say that the band didn't improve most of the things that the fans would have liked to see improved.

I am not saying that the band has any obligation whatsoever to listen to our opinions, and even less obligation to do anything in response. But I am curious, do you think any of our feedback ever reaches the eyes and ears of the band members, either directly or through management?

Yes. The band, management and label are aware of online discussion. I'm not saying they read Yesfans.com religiously, but they definitely see some things, it filters through. Sherwood reads stuff on Facebook, for example.

Question is: should they care? At this point of their career, they probably know that they have a very faithful fan base who still attend shows and buy the new album. They can probably come up with a somewhat precise number of copies the new album will sell, based on the previous album sales. Same goes for their upcoming tours, they have a pretty good idea of the number of tickets that will be sold. These numbers are not as big as they used to be, because some fans like me have given up on the current lineup, but it's more than enough to keep the band going.

I think nearly all musicians, whether they admit it or not, care what their audiences think.

They may be aware of comments and suggestions, but I'm sure they take them with a grain of salt, especially the comments about replacing certain guitar-playing members.

or maybe they care too much? If I were in the band, I would struggle not to take the feedback personally, even the constructive feedback. For that reason I might avoid all feedback. But that's just me...

Billy, if you’re reading this; we need a blu ray from the upcoming tour!

Pre-pandemic, they were planning to record the Relayer tour, although I don't know if that meant video or just audio. I would guess those plans will be resurrected for this year's touring.

Aren't they recording every tour now to release incomplete live albums? Definitely since the Three Album tour.

I very much enjoy both Like it is blu rays, but it is annoying that they are heavily edited

hopefully a complete 2023 show can be released on film
