Yep. As a past defender of Drama, Horn and Downes, Rabin, Benoit, JD, Yes is 2008-14, The Ancient, Squire in the 80's, Jon's Blue sweat suit, Aliens, The Planet Zongo, and many more, it's pretty sad catching a vibe just because for the first time I don't like anything on an album. Live I think the band will do pretty good. But like a Yes experience from 71' to 2014? No. Almost 50% of the experience for me was watching the one and only Chris Squire's massive stage presence and performance. It's more or less Howe and Downes with some guys off the bench acting and playing like the originators. But they can certainly play the music created by others pretty well. I look forward to hearing their interpretation of Relayer. But do I like anything on The Quest? Do I expect a full throttle Yes experience? Not really. I'm so thankful I have my QPR, Live 78', 9012live, Union, Talk, Masterworks, and Lugano, live youtubes.... True magic.

I have to say I think Steve Howe remains an exceptional and exquisite guitar player. Yes, Chris Squire is missed and was awesome on stage, but even at a slower pace, Howe is an amazing guiatr player.

Yes, of course there will be some pushback. However labeling people "hater" because of their persistent critism of just a part of 50+ years of music, is quite unjust IMO. If I don't like one or two courses on a restaurant's menu, I don't automatically hate the whole restaurant.

Well, it wasn't 70s Yes, for sure. But I personally didn't find the last (CTTE 50) show to be agonisingly slow, even though I generally prefer fast(ish) tempos. I thought it worked well. As I indicated previously in this thread, I'm feeling optimistic that this won't be a train wreck!!!

Wow. Just wow. Thanks for posting. That is by far the best piece of interpretation of Yes music I have ever seen.

I think the answer to your question has to be no. This incredible solo piano version reminds us all just how fiendishly complex the song is. But that's OK. I think they will do alright with GoD and with To Be Over - one of my favourite 'lost' Yes songs - so I am still looking forward to the show as I have never seen either track performed live.

I also feel that fans on a fan site can and may behave and think in a wide variety of different ways, including expressing disappointment in particular things the band does. I also recognise that repeatedly expressing such disappointment over and over is going to make some other fans feel like their breakfast cereal tastes of urine. I am not surprised that there is some pushback to such comments. That is all part of the to and fro of fan discourse.

This isn’t about pissing in people’s cornflakes, it’s about engaging with the full spectrum of fans who love the band called Yes. I personally don’t feel that the meaning of a fan fits into a neat little box and that so called fans on a fan site should behave and think in a particular way. I’m not saying that you’re one of those fans, Henry but there are one or two here that wear that hat more often than they don’t.
