A whacky thread about a whacky idea circa 2006

After Jerry Garcia died in 1995, the remaining members of the Grateful Dead almost brought in a surprising ringer: Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar.

now Yes isn’t mentioned but after reading this article I am sure some accountant or yes manager somewhere had the idea for Hagar to be in yes hell they were thinking of getting Steve Perry from journey in early 2007…

before I say the idea of Hagar in yes is absolutely the worst idea ever… and it is.. I can think of three positives

    1. Hagar much like my girl Hilary Duff (or Steve perry) would have been such a departure from their previous lead singer they would have to do a studio album or EP before going out on tour meaning we would of gotten new yes music earlier

    2. Hagar would of been a draw for American audiences and for classic rock radio who likely would play the new single to death for 4 months then never playing it again

    3. We would of gotten new music about 5 years earlier (not counting circa and aliens)

that being said this is such a bad idea I almost don’t want to bring it up but meh it’s January and we likely won’t get any new yes album news till march .. same with the first single on Rabin’s Duran Duran album so yeah let’s have fun with this horrible and whacky idea

I can absolutely see Yes cranking out Only One Way To Rock and Space Station No 5.

Once they get rid of their previous guitarist Ted Nugent...

I think it would have been a great idea for one album and a tour as long as Eddie Van Halen joined to replace Howe.

And you thought Rabin shredded Howe's parts...

I would’ve said the same about Yes dumping their two best-known members, including there iconic vocalist, and teaming up with the Buggles. Horrible and whacky.

Indeed. It was both horrible and whacky.
Sometimes the lights all shining on me, other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.

              LOL. "Cranking out an album".

Like THAT would EVER happen, and that it would be great.

Have you ever considered moonlighting as a comedian?

Is this thread supposed to be about wacky (crazy) ideas or whacky (hitting things) ideas?

I am assuming both as I think it’s a crazy Idea and I am sure just mentioning it even though I don’t agree with it has caused many to want to hit me

Now that was a wacky idea, for so many reasons.

Steve perry and yes had the same manager in late 2006 and with Queen featuring Paul Rogers selling stadiums yes began to think maybe a Yes featuring (insert famous lead singer here) could work… it was only supposed to be for a tour but honestly every time I listen to the Man you always wanted me to be it just sounds like Chris was like hmm maybe I should write a new song for that journey guy to sing…

Yeah I could see from a stunt-casting perspective how they thought it might work but clearly they didn't really know what it would entail to work with SP.
