You're becoming a grumpy old man! 😉 How is this "pooping all over Heart of the Sunrise"? Musicians have always re-interpreted others' music, as Yes did when they radically re-arranged "America" or "Something's Coming". Lizzo is doing her own thing. If it leads a few people to Yes, all's good. Anderson and Squire's widow make some money anyway.

Hahahaaaaa, yes I think I am ! Once you hit 50, everything sucks.... lol

Well for one, I can't stand rap music. I wouldn't call Rizzo's interpretation of HOTS even in the same galaxy as Yes' interpretation of America. Yes made it better, Rizzo made it worse. But on the positive, I am all for a bunch of rappers getting exposed to that amazing intro riff! And that's cool Jon and Scotty are making some dough. My bud's in The Fixx were not thrilled that their song Saved By Zero was being used in a Capitol One commercial, but they did make quite a bit off it. And you are right, if it led more people to The Fixx or Yes , that's cool....

Never heard her, or of her, before and it's unlikely I will again. Still, if it's what the kids nowadays like, good for them.
Discovered her when she was on Saturday Night Live last year. I really like her song "About damn time" because it has the same kind of groove as 70's funk/disco like Chic. The fact that her band plays a bit of "Heart of the Sunrise" is very cool, I think.

How's that pooping? The band is excellent and they play the riff very well. Probably better than Yes nowadays, actually...

I haven't heard HOTS played that fast by Yes since around '78/'79. Since around 2000 or so they've exponentially slowed everything down to a crawl. I was hoping against hope that Jay and Billy might help speed things up a bit now that Alan is gone, but I guess Steve's fingers don't fly like they use to.

So weird to compare some of the Yestribute bands live versions to recent Yes performances... such a tangible difference in interpretation. Most of those bands seem to approach the material the way Yes did long ago, giving the songs a bit of extra speed and fury to get them across, while current Yes takes the 'album version' approach. I wasn't a big AWR fan, but at least they played with some 'live' passion.

Yeah I mean HoTS was pretty speedy when ARW played it.

"Dirge"-like has been a term to describe some of the tempos of 21st century Yes performances.
                      Not on Yes' payroll.

The Yes riff is played very well and the only cool part about it. Everything that came after it was garbage. I really don't like, appreciate, or enjoy rappers pooping all over classic epic songs such as HOTS, Kashmir, and Every Breath You Take. Sorry...

But as Henry said, hopefully it will lead some kids to the amazing world of Yes music!

Lizzo—teaching girls that preparing your body for strokes, heart disease, diabetes, and exhaustion is not necessarily that bad!
