I've learned to love Bruford's contributions over the years, but still remember how excited I was by the rock dynamism that Alan brought to the band.
      More than a drummer. RIP.

Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.

The prog-rock star died peacefully at home after a short illness, his bandmates have announced.

I feared this was coming after seeing the interview about the stolen equipment. It’s so hard to see these guys age and pass, as we all do. I am very thankful for all of the great times in my life, many that occurred while listening to Alan, Chris, and the others. Thanks to his family for sharing him with us for all of these years. It was a hell of a nice journey. RIP.

I have never been able to listen to "Sound Chaser" without marveling at his drumming. Also very moved by his playing of the piano introduction to "In the Presence Of" every time.

A wonderful human being. I hope his family cherishes the wonderful memories he gave them.

                          Rip.

Steve’s now the only member left from the classic lineup, hope he stays for at least another decade.

Very much loved man. Remember he used to commute along the Thames by his own hovercraft. He flew. He was the band's action man. The man who Lennon said brought "good vibes". Will be playin' ITPO today in his honour. Great man.

Does anyone know what happened ? Was it to do with his previous surgery ?

Very sad. Local lad, North East born, did well for himself. He'll be sorely missed and fondly remembered. Rip Alan.
