    Yes Hot Takes

The place to post all your hot takes on this wonderful band so we can all argue and get in a bad mood! Isn’t it wonderful? I’ll start off: A Venture is the best track on The Yes Album.

It might be, but it's not my favourite. Perpetual Change is my favourite.
Sometimes the lights all shining on me, other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.

Both are the underdogs of the album.

Drama went from being underrated to astronomically overrated. 😝

Clap is out of place on a breakthrough band album. There should have been another group song.

I half-agree with you on that one.

It could have joined Mood For a Day on Yessongs, as it was played on that tour.

Heresy!! 😉. It showcases the acoustic chops of the new guitarist. It's also a great piece of ragtime 👍 picking that took me years to learn. Using the live take (with Jon misnaming it) rather than the studio track was an odd choice, though.

I confess I've never found much to interest me in any of Steve's solo output, acoustic or otherwise. I don't dislike it particularly, and Mood for a Day is a lovely piece, but for most of the rest of it, meh.

Union is the best 90s album.

Yes fans hate on Yes's efforts way too hard ("album x is complete rubbish" etc). I would argue that Open Your Eyes is only marginally inferior to its peers, for example.

BG is the best 80s Yes album even though the snare drum sounds like an aerosol can.

                    Tormato haters have incorrect opinions

Replace Drama with Machine Messiah and I’m with you. Sometimes seems like fans and the band think it’s the only song on the album.

Tony wasn’t very good on A Venture.
(As opposed to most other songs on his first time in Yes.)

I may possibly agree. 'For Everyone' should have been on the album to transition better from the original Yes to the new 1971 Yes. The 'Disillusion' melody from For Everyone would be great when you hear it again in Starship Trooper, like a reprise - foreshadowing their conceptual ideas of recurring themes earlier.

Clap is a live solo cut on a studio album, that's just kinda weird and almost like padding it out because they didn't have another song to use.

Rick made excellent use of the Birotron on Tormato. Perfect for Don't Kill the Whale, Arriving UFO and Circus of Heaven

For once I agree on an opinion about Tormato.
