    (The Original) Yesfans.com is Dead

Tim pulled the plug early but here is a glimpse of the site from 2001 = https://web.archive.org/web/20010414...w.yesfans.com/

    Hello all

    Well the end is here.

I post this now because I do not know exactly when my server folks will take it down. I will make this a simple good bye and thanks to all that have been a part of this site for 20 years. This is not good bye but see you down the road. There are other sites for YESFANS already and FB is flooded with them. Do try to be kind to everyone out there in YES land.

    Thanks

    Tim

    Farewell, farewell....
Sometimes the lights all shining on me, other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip itโ€™s been.

Yeah, just woke from a nap thinking we had 12 hours left to opine on all things prog. But no tears, we got a new home here over the ice bridge with many more Yes albums to come. Unbelievable really so hope they tour Relayer next year and look esp. forward to people's reactions then.

                    "In My Life"

                    There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
                    Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain

All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

In my life I love you moreโ™ก
                    Thank you Yesfans.com

I was thinking we had another day to go and say goodbye, hopefully many have made the jump over to this forum.

seeing the end of the original Yesfans reminded me of other past forums such as alt.music.yes

and does anyone here remember Yeshoo?

First of all a big THANK YOU to Tim Lutterbie, for yesfans.com. I had a fun time ( I always have a fun time :-) ) meeting you and your wife in Louisville for the preshow.

I was brought up as a government brat, so I lived in several countries, with northern Virginia as a home base. I have never needed anyone until I became a father. I have zero problem talking to folks, meeting new people and/or being comfortable. However, I prefer to be by myself, one with nature, or doing something adventurous, and in my younger days, spending days and nights with women I would find along the way up for some fun and adventure, too., I loved the solitude of driving, riding and racing motorcycles.. What I love next, is really any live music show.

What I hate, is putting up with bullshit, long drawn out nothingness stories and/or tasks by others, and bad drivers. :-)

YES-fans.com surprisingly became quite a social club for me with all the incredible good people I hung out with, and traveled to meet, before, during, and after shows. Hosting folks from around the world, too. Many, many fun times. So many smart, intelligent, and beautiful people who I have come to love, and so many people who have sadly passed on. All of you have left a mark on me in a very good way. Would never have happened if it hadn't had been for yesfans.com.

Yesfans - like any of the best discussion forums - took me through some changes (it's not just the name of a song, parasocial friends). And I was glad of it and deeply attached to the community as a singular experience. As I said on that other thread, there's not many places online where I can be my true geeky self but YF gave that to me, eventually. So here's to a new era here in our new home.

Sad to see it go, even if I was only there for a relatively short amount of time. I met a lot of cool people there, and I'm glad a lot of them have gone here as well.
