In the Jethro Tull issue, they had downloads I think from the MoonJune label. They specialize in world/ jazz/electronic, ambient, avant-garde King Crimson type stuff. Tony Levin's Stick Men/related stuff is on that label.

There is a 'sampler disc' - it's just digital, you go to a download page and Bob's your uncle. This does look like a sampler for a particular record company though and it doesn't look like you actually need to purchase the magazine to get it, bit of a specialist in Prog, but not InsideOut.

I just browsed through the magazine on Saturday, so I'm sorry I can't off the top of my head remember the name of the record company. The Yes article did look interesting but I didn't make the purchase because a) CttE is not my favourite album (I know) and b) eight quid is quite a lot to read a dozen pages of stuff I probably largely already know a great deal of. I'd pay perhaps two or three pounds to read this.

One little snippet I saw was a quote from Jon which said he'd been listening to Sibelius' 5th {I did know that he was listening to Sibelius], but he went a bit further by suggesting that the structure of CttE mirrored that of the symphony. I think that's stretching it a little bit, but it is a three movement work and without checking it closely it could be that the tempi do roughly match [it's fast-slow-fast with internal variations in each movement]. It's always struck me that the rhythmic effects of Siberian Khatru nod toward Sibelius 5 final movement without aping them. I think that's done in an even more pronounced and successful way in Parallels - the GftO album as a whole being incredibly adventurous [for rock] in the way it uses rhythm. But that's so hidden in plain sight a lot of the band's followers appear to miss it entirely.

I usually pick up a Prog magazine from the Barnes & Noble bookstore, though a month later since it's a UK magazine. Over here we get it about the time a lot of you guys are reading the next issue. I could check it out online, but naw, I like popping into the book store. I see they don't do the sampler disc any more. Maybe that's good, as I have stacks of those things...
