Lets talk about our hopes for the new album

I watched YES at Glastonbury and Lugano the other night. I really hope this new album makes me feel any of the warmth, magic, and awe that watching those 2 live gigs did. I had no problem with Drama or FFH and Gift of Love with Benoit. There is just something in the current 3 voices that's just not close to the sound of Squire and Anderson/Horn/Rabin/or David. I just now don't care for mostly the singing. Watching those 2 concerts with JA and CS singing really blew me away in comparison. It's just a whole other level. It's what Yes truly is. I do admit JD sings great live with a powerful voice, I'm just not so sure about The Quest. I did like 3 or 4 on H&E, but JD was singing with Chris there... Hoping this new one is great ! I'm sure there will be some great musicianship on it for sure. I'm stoked for all you Questers...Last edited by Somis Sound; 03-09-2023, 02:44 PM.

-actually on CFTS Steve's guitar is weirdly treated. Very psych rock.
-again Geoff takes abackseat apart from a little solo at end. He is a support player. Providin' mood
-no band instrumental so far.

- Longer tracks that are longer for a good reason(no meandering!)
- A less sterile guitar sound(go back to analog Steve!)
- More keyboard wizardry from Downes(more outside the box synth use)
- A full band instrumental(okay I'm pushing it)

Overall I really enjoyed the Quest. If this album is as good or better, I will be very pleased.

My hope for this album is that it becomes my 15th favorite Yes album. Not joking; Iโd be cool with 15th.

Well hopefully most of the above will be realised. Longer songs. Longer stretches of insane instrumental passages with absolute earworm choruses.
Happy to still have Howe producin'. Obviously runs a tight, happy ship. Same engineer. Same orchestra.
Lovely titles. As he said in the Prog Mag interview. All the songs conceptually run down the same corridor.
Even Frumee Bee is cautiously optimistic.
As for the Gottlieb Bros. Presume they are in charge of producin' the art book you get with the double vinyl.

So, on the studio version, the line is "Watch it now. The eagle in the sky. How he dancin' one and only- [gunshot sound]".
Since a lot of popular music in the 80s included semi-random sound effects with a brief duration inserted into the music (Owner itself had a lot of them)- this particular addition went basically went unnoticed until Trevor Horn mentioned adding it in a YouTube video. Once you know it's there, you can't miss it.Last edited by downbyariver; 03-07-2023, 09:38 PM.

The Ladder and Talk are both good, but not great
