Lets talk about our hopes for the new album

FINALLY a section I wanted on the old yesfans.com Thank you John and everyone for finally doing this

I know Geoff said they are already working on it and that there were i think 3 Davison/Howe tunes that are not on The Quest so that is a good starting point we also have Horizons so possibly a 2023 release..

I'll bet you have your Christmas decorations up already. And maybe hiding the odd Easter egg in the garden...

DEAN : stunning red desert painting
      HOWE: glistening jazzy guitar
      DAVISON: more heartfelt meaningful lyrics
      DOWNES: more piano ala ALI
      SCHELLEN: more uptempo drumming
      SHERWOOD: more backing vox

      WHITE: farewell and good luck
      HORN: Back as producer
WAKEMAN: Oliver. Next in line for keys
      GOTTLIEB BROS: more enthusiasm
      FRUMIOUS B: less enthusiasm

      ______________

Well hopefully most of the above will be realised. Longer songs. Longer stretches of insane instrumental passages with absolute earworm choruses.

Happy to still have Howe producin'. Obviously runs a tight, happy ship. Same engineer. Same orchestra.
Lovely titles. As he said in the Prog Mag interview. All the songs conceptually run down the same corridor.

Even Frumee Bee is cautiously optimistic.

As for the Gottlieb Bros. Presume they are in charge of producin' the art book you get with the double vinyl.

I hope The Quest gave them the confidence to write more new music and release it more often

Yikes. I haven’t even put the quest in with the rest of the collection on the shelves yet. I can’t let my wife know to get me another deluxe box just yet. 😆

I hope that it doesn't take another 7 years. I also hope that the record company won't interfere by placing length limitations on the next album. Hopefully, they will add a few more rocking numbers too. I love The Quest but it could use a little more momentum and experimentation.

Me too! How hard can it be? Just take the old instrumental and add vocals (Jon D, not Trevor) and keyboards! Do it now. Please!

About a new album: I want to see The Quest as a transitional album between the disaster that was H&E and something on the level of Fly From Here.

I am hoping the new album is a start from scratch thing like The Quest. No old tunes. That said, I’d be down for another archival release like From a Page that includes whatever Horizons is and the bugles era / xyz leftovers. I’d buy both in a heartbeat.

I’m hoping for more Sherwood vocals up in the mix, Howe limited to backup and harmony. More JD in a lower register which I like more. And less in the angelic tone.

Im hoping for a a song or two with some big time changes, and big sound changes, in the context of early 70s tunes. Not all of the songs, and not just a rehash, but one that really grabs me.

While i “like” H&E and TQ. I want to “love” the next one.

And not really in a rush as I’m still getting into TQ over last 2 months.

Also. Does there have to be so many formats and combinations?? CD, Blu-ray, Vinyl. Without all the fluff

I was going to create a thread for this but the two archival albums I really want

                              Go through this
(the townhouse sessions plus any adventures in modern recording peices Horn and Downes want to throw in)

                              say goodbye
(billy keeps posting that 1990 yes new album ad I want to hear the full album from Sherwood Kaye Squire White and Rabin)
