Walls live on Letterman + Trev + Demos

I admit I'm guilty for liking this song, Trev sounds great! Might be a Roger Hodgson song

    Also Check

The More I Look - from Roger Hodgson with Trevor

Also did you know this demo called 'Would You Feel My Love' was sang both by Trevor and Jon separately

    Trevor's version

    Jon's Version

"We all gotta climb mountains!" - Jon Anderson 2003

Ah ha, there it is - the evidence Jon actually wanted to sing that song! So I knew that part but not that he had actually done it. This is an amazing find, even as it's not a favorite of mine. I will say Jon sounds better singing it.

At least according to Trevor, "Walls" was a song which started with him, a version of it was written sometime in the '70s. But the version which came out of his project with Roger is credited to both of them. I love it, especially their close harmony.

      Ah.

The backing track is the same, just played at a different speed and the pitch lowered.

And there’s even Billy there - I assume- over on the left hand side and not with the main band

I mean, I knew there might be a recording, but to find out it exists - that's huge! Again, it makes me wonder what was actually recorded for 90125 versus what it made onto the record.

I don't know that it's exactly the same. I thought so at first too, but the more I listened to it I heard some differences beyond what you're saying.

Well, there's been some different mixing. There are differences, but that could be alternate takes and whatnot.

It was a song which was worked up during the time of their collaboration, yes. Trevor told me it was one of the songs which would have been on an album had they made it that far.

Hodgson's vocal sounds best I think

I remember seeing the TV broadcast on Letterman when it happened - does not seem very long ago!

I also remember reading somewhere that Letterman heard The Calling on the radio while driving and thought it was fabulous - and immediately asked his staff to look into getting Yes on his show to perform The Calling. But I never heard anything about why they ended up performing Walls instead. I assumed that Walls was being released as a single and that's why they made that choice.
