Endless Dream vs. Mind Drive

Endless Dream for me. Mind Drive just sounds cobbled together and the band trying to sound like Yes.

Like today... but with much less success than with Mind Drive.

I found Endless Dream a bit cheesy. Not keen on the distorted vocals, nor Rabin's lyrics or guitar work. A lot of processing. Silent Spring is nice though, Jon in great voice. He hits one note which is breathtaking.

Not close to being close for me. Mind Drive by a huge margin. I find Endless Dream more disjointed and flawed in its attempt to fuse Yes/West. A brave attempt, but it doesn’t work at all for my lights - although I do like bits of it.

Agreed. The opening of ED is great though.

Most everything from Keystudio sounds like underdeveloped demos in search of a great producer. I love the material but the production never matched the quality of the musical ideas. After the sharp digital perfection of Talk the KTA stuff sounds thin as if the recordings were never mastered. So for me I think I've probably listened to ED far more than MD, although I like the idea of MD more as a Yesepic.

If you asked about That, That Is, then I would be in trouble, and said maybe TTI, but while I love MD I think ED is just more polished an less padded for epic length.

very close call for me, i will give the edge to Endless Dream, its a little more solid- Jon Anderson shines on it as well. Mind Drive has fantastic moments and more interesting musical arrangements but also parts that dont mesh too well.

’ll be honest, I never got the love for Mind Drive or much of the other K2A2 material — clunky as some of the lyrics may be, I find K2A much more interesting, and a real highlight of latter-day Yessongs. I think of them as the more direct continuation of ABWH, maybe-not-so-oddly, like where ABWH2 could have gone, had everyone shown up. Be The One should have been a contender, and the last bit of That, That Is, Agree to Agree, is outstanding, with some occasional lyrical gems from JA.

Obviously I'm unable to say which one I prefer, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by both. One would think epics attempted by later Yes wouldn't be much to write home about - at least on first hearing of them - but they passed with flying colors
