Love his narration. Wry delivery. Use of isolated tracks. The openin' with weird creatures slitherin' over granite rocks as Jon sings the openin' of Gates in isolation is spinechillin'.
Elsewhere he finds great old source material. Stories. Wide context with solo works.
Just a timely treasure with the tour comin' up.

The Ilhan Mimaroglu piece Wings of the Delirious Demon (1969) mentioned in the Relayer documentary. I've heard it before, and I like it a lot. Very hard to find any of his music on CD though.
He worked for a time as an engineer for Atlantic, and also collaborated with Freddie Hubbard and Charles Mingus. He died in 2012 aged 86.
The accompanying image is a representation of Dante's Inferno.

Really like these documentaries. Always some new info in there. And made with care and flare. Don’t quite agree with his views on side two. Everything in its right place on these two songs!
