I was just spouting off yesterday about how we've now been sold the concept of streaming our entertainment. I don't care for the idea of paying $9.99/month for Spotify, $9.99/month for Youtube, Amazon Prime for $14.99, $9.99/month for Hulu, $9.99/month for Netflix, $9.99/month for Paramount Plus, $9.99/month for Disney Plus, $15.00/month for HBO.

I've still got my "hard copy" of Protools, but now it's pretty much a streaming service as well, at an initial cost of $599, plus $99.99/year for perpetual upgrades.

My wife pays for Adobe Suite, and I don't know how much she's paying for that, but a quick online search says it's $79.99/month for a monthly plan, or $599.88/year (which breaks down to $49.99/month). Another source pegs the cost at $30.00/month.

I really hate this business model.

Never rely on streaming services. Licences come and licences go.

Recently all of Peter Hammill's Fie! releases were pulled from Amazon (and I guess other platforms too) following the sale of that catalogue to a third party. Now they might reappear at some time or they might not. Luckily I have most on CD or vinyl, but the Amazon app was very useful just to get stuff on my phone quick and easy.

Even a download is safer than relying on someone else to look after "your" music.

Not all was bad, imho, and unfortunately a missing album breaks my well crafted, well picked and thought out playlists. And that sucks.

Fly From Here and Heaven & Earth have been out of print, so to speak, for a few years now. It bugs me because I no longer have my digital or CD copy of FFH.

    Album missing from Spotify

Recently I noticed H&E is missing from Spotify.
The publishers are stirring it up again. There was a time Talk was missing, now Talk is back (as all caps, TALK), and so is the original FFH, only the Return Trip is available. And of course Union.

It is only so I can't have a playlist from all albums. (I took it very personally, lol)

    ABWH is there.
