    Go Through This again

(Hope this is an appropriate forum for this question)

”Go Through This” was, as I understand it, (re)recorded by the 2011 lineup (possibly with Horn on vocals). Does anyone know anything about it? At this point there are only two members from this incarnation left. If it’s in the can, so to speak, why hasn’t it been released, even if only as a freebie to fans?

My opinion is that its best placement would have been on Return Trip instead of Don't Take No ( which in turn would have perfectly fit on From A Page). Speculations are that there were copyright issues due to the recording having been previously recorded for and thus owned by Atlantic then Rhino...

I think it was originally going to be on a compilation album for the 50th anniversary that was scrapped.

I thought they used Chris original bass track and built around that with new recordings. Or something like that. Not really a fan of the original, but curious what the new version is like. An EP with Go Through This, Horizons, and any other Arizona or other cool demos would be fun ! But I understand the licensing and biz stuff can F all that up....

That sounds right. Assuming Rhino controls it, what are they waiting for? Just curious

I wonder if it could get repurposed eventually on a full blown Yes album (if there is to be another, there seems to the appetite for it.) Go Through This wasn't my favourite but it did have energy so I could see it being welcomed.

Yes, this is what I was told. The original Squire bass parts belonged to Atlantic and thus now Warner (Rhino being part of Warner). The newly added bits belong to Yes.

I can't imagine that this dispute would have been insoluble if they'd really wanted to get it out somewhere.

As far as I know, there is appetite for more Yes albums beyond MttS, yes.

I don't see how it could be placed on an album of new material featuring a different singer. Having failed be to put on Return Trip I think it can only resurface on a boxset of archival recordings or some sort of compilation...

Both Rhino and Yes know it would make them both money. Why not at the very least just do a digital release of it as a single. Same goes for Fragile/Touch. Makes no sense. It's being held hostage from the fans, and you are not making profits that are just waiting in the ether. A lose-lose situation...

I wonder if it's possible for Billy Sherwood to replace Chris' Atlantic bass part with his own so that the track could be released? I know that's a sacrilege, but I suppose that's one option.

Are people really jonesing for a tune that the band didn’t think was good enough to include on Drama?

I wouldn’t consider that sacrilege at all. For that matter, Horn could also do it. I like the idea.
