YesWest era vs H&E through MttS era

Seeing people's comments for and against each of these eras, which do you prefer? Granted it started as Cinema, it became Yes(West) once Anderson became involved. Just focus on the studio output and not the touring aspect of each time frame. I am omitting FFH and From A Page since they encompassed a short period (mini-era) greatly differing from what has come after and is IMHO an extension from the Drama era. There is definitely polarization in the two eras in the poll with the addition of Rabin and Davison.

I love YesWest, so that was an easy choice for me. However that doesn't mean I don't like H&E through MTtS. I find something to enjoy on each if those albums. But YesWest is another level for me.

      strange comparison,

surely 2011-2021 would be more fair? Especially since we havent heard MTTS yet.

Cannot vote yet, but I suspect Yeswest will win out overall.

You can vote after hearing MTTS. Rabin Era vs Davison Era may have been better wording. They are definitely the most polarizing members in the band's history.

YesWest is less an era than a concept. Because there were no as different albums as 90125, BG, Union and Talk were.
BG was the Tormato of YesWest where they were pressured by the money making machine to make as much or more money than 90125 made, and they were aimless and lost making an album that was less than the sum of its parts. Which is my biggest problem with Tormato. Then during Union all of them were in the middle of midlife crisis doing weed instead of making music, and JonD and Elias made a Potemkin's album, which was not half bad, but had almost nothing in common with the previous two (three including ABWH). Finally Talk was great because Trevor started it to play with his digital recorder without the pressure of a money making machine.

As for H&E, TQ and MttS... We still didn't hear MttS, I prefer H&E to BG, but I prefer the lest of YesWes, incliding Union to H&E. TQ is better, at least on par with Union, but not better than 90125 and Talk.
Talk is still my favourite YesWest album, but MttS has the potential to surpass it.
I'll vote after I've heard it.

Since I can forecast the future, I am going with the newest era that will feature the two newest albums. 2025’s Evolution Earth, and after a much delayed album due to the death of millions by leaking car batteries, Raining Radiation. They will be AMAZING albums, mark my word. The addition of two more drummers and Robert Fripp on record and on stage with Steve, with all the material written by Toyah, will knock your socks off!

              * I am not an employee of Jon and Janee Anderson.

I know intellectually that Rabin is on Talk, but it doesn't seem like a Key West album. It's a million miles away from and better than 90125 and Big Generator. Talk seemed to me to be the beginning of a return of the Yes I liked. It's an overlooked album I think.

I mean if I had to order the albums right now it would be something like:

                    90125
                    Big Generator
                    Talk
                    The Quest
                    Union
                    Heaven and Earth

Mirror to the Sky is sounding promising and if it continues in that vein it will likely be somewhere among the BG /Talk rating.

Btw Fly From Here would be second only behind 90125 on this list, if that were included.

                      I'd have
                      Talk
                      The Quest
                      Heaven and Earth

but wouldnt let the others you mention into the house.

And they aren't, of course, anywhere near Relayer, Topgraphic Oceans, Close to the Edge or Going For the One..

With you on this one! I certainly enjoyed TQ and am quite looking forward to this Friday, but the YesWest albums were a band at (one of) its peaks, for sure. Yes was lucky to have more than one. I don’t think they’re at one now, but they’re not in a valley, either, and they’re on an uphill climb, at least.

This one isn’t even close. YesWest all the way and this is coming from someone who is lukewarm on the Rabin years.

Disown me for life, but I’d still put Union higher, whether just the YesWest tunes or the whole album. #SorryNotSorry
